MYFX Weekly Challenge #230 - WWII Power Suits - WIPs

    World War II Power Suits

Welcome to challenge number 230. Don't forget to cast your vote in the previous challenge while you still can. This weeks challenge comes from the suggestion thread, feel free to offer suggestions for future challenges themes (see link below).

    Brief:

Design front and side views of each suit, and an image illustrating the clash between the prototypes.

    Description:

Discovered in a pile of forgotten WWII records, are designs for a Nazi power suit, with which a soldier could attack the allies with added strength, armour and high-powered weaponry. Found alongside these records were the designs for an Allied response to this machine. It is doubtful that any form of mass production was started, but there is anecdotal proof that a battle occurred between the prototypes of either side.

    Deadline:

Midnight (GMT) on Wednesday 1st June (this is Wednesday night, Thursday morning for those that need clarification). There is a 5 minute grace period allowing people to get their posts and links sorted. A moderator will then post a list of valid entries after checking links and voting will begin until the following midnight. Crits are welcomed during the voting process.

Post all comments, crits, discussion, and all WIPs (required for entry) in this thread. Final entries should be posted in the finals thread:

    http://community.imaginefx.com/forums/348341/ShowThread.aspx#348341

    Brief rules and additional info:

A minimum of 2 WIPs are required in addition to your final entry. Links to these should be posted along with your final entry in the finals thread. A link is provided below to details of how to do this. You may be disqualified if you do not post WIP links correctly.

All artwork must be the work of the entrant, and completed within the time frame of the challenge. You may only enter 1 entry per challenge, and may only cast 1 set of votes during voting.

Please keep entries and WIPs below 500k and a maximum of 1000 pixels across. Larger files causes problems for all users, especially those on slower connections.

Moderators monitor the voting in these challenges to combat cheating and maintain fairness. We may discount any vote we consider suspicious, and will disregard any attempts at sabotaging the voting, or in any way screwing with these challenges.

Two designs, with front and side views of each, PLUS an illustration of the fight between them? In one week? You should make it really challenging and have us paint with our toes.

Aye... I remember when I were a lad, we only 'ad a single piece of coal to draw with, and that were supposed to count for full dinner as well... ;-)

Sorry... my idea! lol! I thought it would really push the concept design side, like a game project. :-D Maybe it would've been better suited to a monthly, though those aren't usually that specific. ;-)

Coal? We'd've given our right 'ands to draw with coal... in fact we did give our right 'ands. We 'ad to cut 'em off and paint with the gushing blood from our stumps.

If you feel there isn't enough time, just do the front and side views of the suit designs and forget the fight.

I guess we can see examples of this type of gushing paint in caves across Europe...

(in a whiny kid´s voice:) ...but the fight is the most fun!

lol. That's huddersfield for you. Rich folk living golden dreams. Over in Wakie we had only our imagination to draw with. Strangest part was when the teachers critiqued our work.

You think you 'ad it 'ard, you lot in Wakey and Leeds, with all that gold fallin' out the skies over there? We 'ad to work full day down mine and then in t'mill before we could start drawing with our imaginations!! And then we ad to cough up our lungs each morning, to scrub 'em clean after breathing smog and imaginary paint fumes! Then when we died of exhaustion, we 'ad to bury ourselves in coffins we'd made with our own 'ands, then get up each morning for another 25 hr day! And only then were we allowed to draw with our imaginations, after our Pa's 'ad given us a good beltin' to learn us some good discipline in imaginary art!

Aye, 'tis grim up north, lads. 'Tis grim up north... ;-)

You do realise we're going to have to petition for a Monty Python themed topic next week? :-D
