Hell Yeah Mary Kay. Women wearing all pink, driving pink cars. Its a pepto Bizmoll moment in more ways than one.

its a tough act to follow - the screamfest monster is coming along so well, but here is my meagre coontribution so far. Heaps to go!

meagre my *ss Chantika. Yours is shaping up nicely! Its funny we both put hands close to the viewer...not like they are notoriously easy to paint or anything.

dreading that moment when I get to the hands lol!

but thats sweet of you to say - thanks Zephyr. I feel composition is my failing but I am trying to challenge myself to improve on this and particularly anatomy.

Your words encourage me to keep trying to reach your level of mastery Zephyr so thanks

I know I will get better with practice but I feel more comfortable dropping a direction now if it doesn't feel right even though I may have spent some time on it.

Anyone else have that feeling of spending hours on a piece, going to bed feeling like a genius only to get up the next day and discover it belongs in the museum of bad art?

Heh heh... yeah. I ressurected one of my fairy pieces that I started a couple years back, worked on it solidly for a few days testing out custom brush usage. By the time I had finished it I was well happy... about a month passed by then I took a look at it, hmmmm how does it turn into something so bad whilst you are away !

abscnth that happens to me also. Your just in a different place now. Some one told me once that i don't enjoy my own work and I don't create a piece of art i give birth. so relax enjoy and appreciate that a can do art where so many don't ave the ability.

I'm intending to have a go at something for this month too! :-) Don't think I'll get a proper chance to start till later in the week or even the weekend, though. Some great stuff already, by the looks of it! Well done to all! :-) Now I just need to do something more than a couple of very basic layout sketches lol!

    ZephyrA:

Digital Dave, this is your first challenge?! Well... welcome! I like your sketch and that background is great.

Thanks ZephyrA. And yeah, I've always enjoyed watching the challenges, just never entered before. Not even sure how far I will get with this one being real busy, but will have fun anyway. Your piece is looking great. Definitely has the feeling of fear well established. Almost feel sorry for her. Wink I think it works both ways really, but the one with the monster facing her is more daunting. When he's facing away, it's almost like 'maybe he won't see her?' where the other says simply 'game over!' Big Smile

Chantika, yours is also looking very nice. I really like the lighting and depth of your background. Also like that you changed it to a cave view. Smile

This is a sketch of an idea I have.. So the idea is that the space station is emerging from the planets darkness for another day in the life of whatever the station is called. I will need to put some significant detail in the space station, seeing as most of the pic is in darkness, so the shapes are basic at the moment.

Well, got home too late to start any work, so put in an hour or so throwing some colors in on the pic, and changed the character up some. Didn't like the weapon either, so ditched it. Also added some additional body parts & features.

I wanted to create something appearing from a dark shaddow. So I am using light and dark contrast with a green and orange color scheme.

Hmmm. May change this idea to something completely different. There is too much black I think. I can change the direction of the light source, but still not sure. I am going for a 2001 Space Odyssey look and I didn;t want to do a person as this is what lots of folk are concentrating on. I wonder if a high atmosphere setting or something less... empty may work better. Dont know but there is time to work on things.
