Just starting out, any crits would be appreciated

I'm new to the art world, just started buying this magazine and I'm trying to make something of myself. I work in a horrible dead end job and life is too short to live in a world with such little meaning. I think this gives me a drive, I'm willing to learn and I'm looking for any opportunity to become a better artist.

These are my two latest pencil drawings, I'm still trying to teach myself digital art working with Photoshop, but I'm the true embodiment of starving artist and cant afford any real training, so traditional work is where I'm trying to grow right now.

Great looking pencil drawings. So I guess you're not new to the art of drawing even though you're new to the art world.

yeah I've always just drawn stuff but I am new to the art community. I really don't know how to start out, what are good exercises, what possibilities are out there. All I know is I hate my meaningless day job and really want to make something out of myself. I've just been drawing as much as I can to get better and started putting my pieces online to get feedback. I'm just looking for that first step in the right direction.

Yea I can see you have been drawing for a long time:) Do you have any human drawings or creatures? Would be cool to see. Otherwise as to how to go about in the art community, depends on what you want. Do you want to be an concept artist, fine artist, illustrator etc? There are different approches to the different kinds.

KUDOS! i just LOVE the design of these pictures. The surreal quality about them just screams classic album cover and I hope one day my dead end job could inspire me to design and draw as good as you. haha

    Beautiful work!!!

There are plenty of oppotunities out there for a person of such skill.  Try and get a portfolio together.  If you go on devaintART, they have a free thing were you can make a sort of portfolio site.  Until you have one up, keep posting to art communities like this and talk and network with others.  See if your local communities have art events and go to them.

You have to decide what you want to do so you can focus on meeting the right people.  You can sell your work in galleries, be a freelancer doing album covers or magazine articles...just think, what would your dream art job be?

Stunning details and craftsmanship. You might be the artist you want to be with the right connections.
