Yay... another awesome round in the making! I actually managed to get an early start this time round, but first some comments:

@ Evil Robot: I like it... always a fan of the more beastly Dracula. Very interested to see where you'll take this.

@ Dave Brasgalla: Great start... love the face and the bold red.

@ Confuzzled: Love the expression so far. I can see what you're saying about proportions, but I think it only needs minor tweaking.

@ Daruma: Very nice outfit & composition. I'd suggest making the perspective a little more extreme.

@ Disco Matt: Great colours and composition. Your format maybe a bit off, though... not portrait enough for a book cover imo.

@ Red Ninja: Don't be like that... I always enjoy looking at people's roughs.

@ kmasgrande: It's a good start, but I think it needs more creepiness for a gothic/horror novel.

edit: I deleted this post because I became nervous when I realised I was spoiling the book in a major way.

Seeing as the working week is soon starting again, I was hoping to be a bit further along by now, but just to prove that I've actually tried, here are my wips. (Don't worry banj, the text won't be there in the final - if there is a final...)

WIP 2 is just a quick color sketch. And just like the final sketch was nothing like my initial idea (well, fairly different anyway), my colours changed immediately after I started painting... But it should give a hint anyway...

And since my Dracula seems to remain in a constant state of ugly, I've focused on the damsel this afternoon... I made a new image with her and rotated it so that it'd be easier to paint her face. The rest of her just looked plain wierd though, so after the face was done I roted her back for the rest of her. I did use a daz studio render as reference for pose and perspective, but changed things around a bit afterwards. Hopefully for the better :P Her hands look awful but they'll be tiny in the final so... They'll remain awful, I think.

WIP 2... I am actually well past this point, but neglected to post my progress:

Just a few doodles for my idea, based around the fact the book is written in the style of a collection of diaries and recollections of the event.

 

Still working on composition etc, and tweaking the arms etc. May add more of the individual writers etc.
