Thanks for the recommendation Egghed, and the Urisks on your CLAN pages are pretty terrific too.  Not too over the top, and I like the face on the close up one. Like he's assessing something at a distance.

I wonder - does ArtRage support all of the custom brushes I've been letting gather from back issues of IFX?

Thanks, I did enjoy scribbling that one, haven't played with that idea for a long time!

Artrage won't support any of those custom brushes. I can't imagine  they will in 3 either because it sticks quite strictly to its ideals of traditional materials. In practice I find the oil brush and its various states of loading/thinners does everything I need it to do for the moment, it is a square headed brush though and I would like a round variation since I use them most in oil painting. We'll see what the next version brings. You also use stencils for effects and textures which are so easy to create and in effect act like any custom brush you can think of making. And of course where Painter costs hundreds, ArtRage cost me not much more than £10 at time of purchase. I think with the british pound rate these days it is about £15 :)

Of course you only need to see Nick's work for proof of what AR is capable of which is more than enough. :).Oh dear I seem to have turned into an Ambient Design salesman!

    Cheers

Just gone into beta10, and sticking more plasters on any quirks and bugs.  It' getting much closer - honest.  It is taking a bit longer than I thought it would, based on the noises the dedicated team were making a while ago.  it is a major overhaul though and bound to have a few teething troubles.  They want as many ironed out before they lay it before us.  They've finished the interface and the functionality is all in place.  Just bugs and wrinkles left . . . .   I will keep you posted as and when I'm allowed say anything.

Are we still talking about Artrage here? I think you may have said too much already  worrieddon't tell anyone.

What with Artrage 3 and Zbrush 3.5/and 4 on their way, I might actually explode in a big... erm, explosion.

Well let us know when you are about to do it, and we should be able to get some good 'exploding enthusiast' reference shots.

If there's any use for reference images of somebody exploding then I'll happily set the timer on the camera for you. I wont be able to upload the photos though, obviously.

Not like you to be so neggy Marcus.  I think you're blowing the problem out of proportion.  A few well placed sheets and the application some superglue after, and we'll have you enjoying the full use of the photos, if not your limbs.

Pixologic can't seem to stop releasing yummy stuff at the moment. Have you tried Paintstop yet? I really like it.

Absolutely. Paintstop has more than an air of Artrage about it, some really nice brushes too (love the colour blender).

My daily ritual recently involves opening Artrage and running Check for Updates. I'm sick of looking at that damned cat.

One of my faves too. :) I like the fact that you can easily change the characteristics of a brush head by using different alphas and all the other 2D tools ZBrush has to offer.

Reckon ArtRage 3 will be worth the wait though. I'm really looking forward to it.

Re: Keep Your Eyes Open for the arrival of ArtRage 3 - It's a must have

well, I'm going to start by trying 2.5 and if it's good... They'd better give us a release date soon on the third! Does anyone know how much it's going to cost (more or less)?
