We are resuming the regular IFX Fightclub rounds with a tournament… I’m taking names up until midnight on Friday the 29th May.
I will announce the fight schedule after this point, and then the first battle will commence on the 1st June.Rounds will now last 2 weeks. This will be an elimination tournament, working towards semi-finals and a ultimately a final to determine a champion.
For anyone not familiar with IFX fightclub, let me explain a little…
During a round, two IFX members have a draw-off contest.Each member hasa character (of their own design) and they each create an image of their two characters in battle. Votes are then cast by other members to determine the winner of the fight.
To take part in this Fightclub, all you need do is post an image of your character (preferably full bodyshot, in colour, showing size/scale). Please also include a short backstory telling us a little about your character. Your character must be of your own creation – nothing copyrighted or plagiarised please. Yeah, I reckon you can count me in. I'll be entering with Leo this time I think, since I draw Jennifer too much anyway, and I don't have time to produce a reference-type pic of another character

Leo Adams is almost the polar opposite of his Spentas partner Jennifer, quiet and introverted, even gloomy, where she is friendly and outgoing. As well as increased strength and speed, Leo has fire-based magic abilities. His power runs deeper than most, and he also has the ability to summon elemental spirits. He joined the Fightclub on Jennifer's insistence that he get out and meet more people.
I don't know know if it'll be as easy to think of stuff for Leo as it is for Jennifer, but hey, they don't call it a challenge for nothing. It's just occured to me that I'm not sure if there's a rule against pets/summons/assistance or whatever, so maybe the elemental thing won't come into it. As for his fire powers though, they work similarly to Mustang's powers in Fullmetal Alchemist, if you're familiar with that. For anyone who's not, it means he causes explosions rather than actually setting things on fire or using a kind of projectile or flamethrower type ability.
That's all I can think of to say for now. Here's hoping we get a lot of interesting characters in this It might be worth publicising this in other parts of the forum, or even PMing past Fightclub participants.
Leo's in the gallery already. Hows that for service? lol. And i know what you mean about drawing a character too much - kinda have that problem myself.
as for abilities... the fact is a fighter can have ANY powers and ANY abilities. (im surprised how tame some of these characters have been) but then its not really these things that let you win in fightclub. So yeah, you can summon other creatures, etc. But - at teh end of the day - you're gonna have to draw them. Your final must include both you and your opponent's characters - if you choose to draw another bunch of people/creatures, then thats up to you.
....the balance is still there because your opponent is under no obligation to draw any of these other creatures, etc. the rules simply state both the characters must be present in the final in a recognisable form. Plus, it is your peers who vote for the winner
That said, if this seems to cause problems, then we can deal with it as it come up. My golden rule has always been: as long as you are operating within the spirit of fightclub, its no problem. So for now, we'll roll with it.

This has already been mentioned in the usual wip and final sections, and now in the community section. i wouldnt put it anywhere else on ifx though, dont wanna be a spammer! but certainly see who you can drag in, welcome to invite ppl from other sites who might be interested. But you only got till the end of this week to sign up

Oh yeah, good point. The elementals I've designed so far aren't simple things either. I probably wouldn't have used them in the pics anyway.

I might know someone who could be up for it. I remember someone from another forum expressing an interest and even registering to this forum, but I never saw them here since. I think I'll let them know.

i been thinking about a new fighter too - but i got a few killing techniques that Tellyhead wants to try out first. Maybe after i win this tournament i'll retire tellyhead for good?
yeah philby, i think i remember chatting to him on here. give him a shout. a good mate of mine from uni is gonna join in too... has the weirdest idea for a character i heard so far! but i'll not spoil it, he can introduce his fighter himself once his ifx signup stuff comes through!

quick - somebody call the doctor. Bob's overconfidence gland is swelling up and i think its gonna burst! i recommend amputation of the head.
Loving the monk - can kinda imaging him fighting already... are his arms held together magnetically? an if so they could be extendable for long distance smackage. he's up in the gallery Luke, if you want to write a short bio, i'll add that too.
George will be submitting a 'balloon boy' (provisional name) character as soon as his ifx registration confirmation comes through, So, including him, i think we're currently sitting on 8 confirmations. Anyone else, please submit characters asap - cut off is friday at midnight..
