This is the Final Work thread for the MyFx challenge #120 Mars Gravidus - Gods of War & Destruction.

2009 Rules

Challenge begins now and ends at midnight GMT time Thursday April 23rd 2009. There is a 5 minute grace period for people trying to post. Please also note that you MUST include TWO links to work in progress posts that you've made in the wip thread to be eligible for entry. Please make these WIP links as workable links. Mods also reserve the right to disqualify any entry thought to hold malicious intent or to be posted in bad faith. Entries must also have been done in the time permitted for the challenge and cannot be images that have been created previously.

Voting will begin at midnight GMT time Thursday April 23rd  and will end at midnight GMT time Friday April 24th. The winner will then have the chance to choose the next weeks challenge. They will have until midnight GMT time Saturday April 25th to post the next topic or they will forfeit the chance to choose the topic and the topic will be chosen for them by the mod. This is to keep the challenges moving at a timely pace with little or no interruptions.

 

[Request by mods] We would like to ask everyone to try and keep image sizes down to below 500k (or preferably around 1100 pixels on the longest side if possible). This is particularly important in the WIP thread as we have noticed some people posting extremely large files at times. As we have to check WIPs for every entry, it can take a while when we have to wait for large files to download. This isn't compulsory, but it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

 

Deadline notice for UK entrants.

Anyone in the UK will have noticed that we recently changed from GMT to BST. In the past challenges have followed whatever the current UK time was. Because this has caused some confusion for people in the past the challenges will remain on GMT regardless of what is in use in the UK.

So, anybody entering from UK should have until 1am (BST) to get their entries in (unless I've confused myself which is entirely possible - must go and change that last clock too). Everyone else can carry on as normal... move along please, nothing to see here.

Bishamon, one of the seven gods of Buddhist Shinto-ism. for anyone wishing to know, he carries a spear in one hand and a miniature pagoda in the other, to represent both the virtues of a warrior, and a missionary.

The three, large ominous shapes are the Nogchampa Wachoochoo gods ( Leaches of Death & Destruction) from Maetidup Folklore.  Wherever there is war, they gather to feed.  Legend has it, that they are looked down upon by all other gods, but year by year they grow larger and larger- as does their power.  Eventually they will no longer scuffle about at the heels of the greater gods.  Blah... Blah....  That's the way the legend goes anyhoo.

 Ok heres mine, i gave my best effort the last few days but needed more time in the end! Unfinished in the end but enjoyed doing it and farely happy with result although frustrated when i ran out of time!

He was seen as a powerful lion god of war who helped defend Ra on his solar barque during his nightly battle with the serpent Apep. Just as he protected Ra he also protected the Pharaoh when in battle.

Some of Maahes’s titles include ‘Wielder of the Knife’, ‘Helper of the Wise Ones’, ‘Lord of Slaughter’, ‘The Initiator’, and ‘Avenger of Wrongs’. MaahesHe was also seen as the lord of the horizon who guarded the gates of night and watched over magical rites. His city was Leontopolis - the city of lions. There he had a grand temple devoted to him, wherein lions were bred, raised, and lived in the accompaniment of Egyptian song.
