Eaglecaste's Sketchbook- The Quest for the Dragon Scroll

Searching through the already massive Collaberative Sketchbook is going to be a pain when I want to see If or how I've progressed as the challenge developes. Herein is a resume of my scribbles and daubs!

This guy just appeared out of nowhere, I just started scribbling and there he was.

oh good idea eagle! i'm gonna do the same, been meaning to start a sketchbook anyway. It'll be good to look back on stuff & see the improvements too. You don't mind if i jump on your bandwagon do you?

I've painted a cat previously, for the Witchy Challenge. I enjoyed it then and I enjoyed painting this one too. I also realised that painting on one layer continuously till the painting is finished is quite liberating. It also really doesn't constitute a sketch, but then again I suppose it's comparative. Compared to how long I normally take this is a doodle.

Using Billie Piper as a referance I had a bash at skin textures. In the past the skin I've painted has been to perfect, glossy magazine, model perfect. I'm trying for realism. I suppose this is one of the good things to come out of 3D art. Those modelers really try for realism. Olivier Ponsonnet is one of my heroes. Having a time limit, albeit self imposed, is tough for detail work, but it focused me a lot.

I quite llike the idea of highlights being so dramatic. I kinda tried to do an em... by doing a superhero portrait but ended up being side tracked by the detail.

Skin textures by now had totally fixated me, so I just had to pander to the urge to do more.

I continued to mess about with highlights revisiting a girl I'd used before in the Amazon Beauty Rebels Challenge way back. She's not quite the same, but similar. She has bigger facial features to give her more character. This is something I got from reading a quote from the brilliant Marta Dahlig.

I find myself influenced greatly by what's being posted in the Collaberative Challenge. This time it was Jackdaws amazing characters that inspired me. I didn't get time to finish this woman but hope to one day soon.

This fealt like my first skive of the challenge. A ten minute job, that is exactly what a sketch is. I just want to produce a great peice of art whenever I put stylus to tablet. It's obviously not going to happen, but the day I stopping trying is the day I should pack in..or give myself a kick up the..

This Jedi might just get developed into a great image at some point who knows!

This is what my initial sketches for a challenge actually look like. This soon to be a zombie girl, will come to life, or rather unlife, in the 25th Rebels Zombies Challenge.

Brilliant idea eagle. Nice to see your "sketches" all in one place. Those skin textures and your cat are amazing pieces of artwork. The last one isn't a skive at all, it is what it says on the tin, a sketch perhaps to be worked up later. Thanks for drawing our attention to the latest rebel challenge. I think a few of us have got sidetracked.
