This weeks challenge is: 

Against all odds

Entries must be posted in the Final Entries thread by Midnight on October 30th (UK time) - an extra 5 minutes is given after this to allow for time differences, but entry closes immediately after.

All entries must be accompanied by at least 2 links to WIP images in the WIP thread to qualify for entry. Voting begins after entry closes and runs until Midnight Friday (October 31st), then a moderator will count up the totals and declare a winner. Voting is open to anybody whether they have an entry or not.

NOTE: moderators reserve the right to disqualify any votes they deem suspicious and any attempts at vote sabotage/cheating will not be tolerated

I noticed that the bi-weekly challenge maintains a gallery of its winning images - do we do this for the weeklies, seems like a nice idea ?  (Also it would be good if challenge galleries were linked to in the editors picks bit on the front page, even just the monthlies.)

First sketch. Young tribesman does rites of passage by taking out a mountain giant. Kind of David/Goliath variation.

haha. nice topic. hey Apprentice, there actually is a gallery for weeklie, biweekly and monthly challenge winners in the "Art Challenges" thread. they're not updated regularly as it's all volunteer work, but usually I try to update them once a month. maybe I'll go do that right now.

one thing to remember too, is alot of the times your browser only shows 2 months worth of posts. if you change that option you'll actually see a bunch of other posts. it's in the options at the bottom of each forum area.

Charco, you did all that with pencil?!  Fantastic interpretation - only thing I'd check is the proportion of the little girls arms....can't wait to see what you do with this piece digitally :)

FG, I know there are threads with the images on - but I meant a gallery gallery.  So for example the ifx fight-club one is here.   (Sorry wrong info originally, it was fightclub rather than bi-weekly that had one.)  It just might draw in additional people to take part.

OK, When I first read this I had something in mind but after asking my wife, a nurse by the way, what she thinks of when she hears against all odds it was so different, so out with the slayer of many to a more human emotion driven piece. I have a very good friend Leroy that lives basically with kidney failure, many other problems and is in a wheelchair all the time. So at times he can struggle with confidence. Here s my sketch.

Ok, so I had this idea for the challenge but I'm afraid it won't translate very well. Any Naruto fans out there will get this but otherwise it's not going to fit the theme. So basicly Naruto is the main character of a Manga/anime of the same name. The series starts out telling the history of Naruto as a baby orphened and cursed with the spirit of a fox demon. The series goes on forever (approaching 200 episodes now) and we watch Naruto grow ,against all odds, from a weak child to a powerfull warrior. So thats the idea behind this montage, unforunatley it dosen't have universal appeal so we'll see how it pans out.
