    My favourite robot?

I was part inspired to ask this by the high number of robotic/android types that seem to find their illustrated way to these pages, and part because I dug out my old Tetsujin 28 t-shirt the other day and felt the need to revisit the big old fella's work. But I was wondering what well known robots are your particular faves, that inspire you, amuse you or you just like the huge gurt proportions of?

As I just mentioned, mine is Tetsujin 28, a big old Japanese fella I discovered quite by chance. His benign metallic face makes you feel both a tad of awe and incredibly safe - and he's got one of my favest theme tunes of all time to go along with him!

    He looks like this…

And you can sing along to his theme tune here…

So go on - who are your faves?

GORT - (the day the earth stood still - original version, god knows what they've done in the remake).

    Maria - (Metropolis)

The Iron Giant - (from, er, The Iron Giant)

R2-D2 - (can't remember what film this one was from, something really obscure)

The Cylon hybrid from "Battlestar Galactica," (new version). She reminds me of a cross between the Bene Gesserit and the Spacing Guild from Dune, my very favorite scifi story.

Oh, and that snarky little Vincent from "The Black Hole."

    Re: My favourite robot?

I share my favourites with Banj,  Gort is my favourite movie robot - big, silent and threatening...As a robot should be !

The company Philips had a rather cool female "I Mac"-styled robot in their advertising some year back, which I found rather cool.

There is also the mass-produced  "Erotica Anns"  in the graphic novel "Starstruck" by E Lee and MW Kaluta - very beautiful.

Though my most favourite robot ever must be that little tin one I had as a kid, it was a wind-up toy and walked on the floor spurting sparks !

I guess mine of all time would be the VF fighter from macross/robotech. 3 forms, and just wicked evil.

Iron Giant actually ranks as one of my favorite movies. Did you know Vin Diesel voices the robot? His best acting evar.

Niiice! It is a great film. :) I did not realize Vin Diesel was the voice, very cool.  I liked him in the Riddick films too.

Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick. I have a copy of Dark Fury, but have not watched it yet.  *oh the shame*
    ;)

I heard Vin might be making a movie based on his D&D character.

Eeeek! We are getting off topic. Hopefully no one whacks us over the head with a blunt instrument, or robot head or something! ;D
