Hey these are good drawings, from what i can see, some of the images are a little pale but can just make them out. You unfairly cut yourself down by sating " Good for laugh in the middle of the night"

Keep it up and post some more.

Thanks! Yeah, I should really color him in and add a background.

You should add some detail to it in pencil before you color it.

Or if you have a pen tablet and photoshop you can build as you go...

I can imagine him infront of a smoldering urban scene.

I may use the contrast tool in photoshop to darken the lines, then clean off the white area by just removing it with a wand tool. Originally I was thinking of a plain desert sandy background. I'll consider a soldering background, maybe in an urban setting.

    that is a brilliant idea!

Instead of the contrast tool just use brightness/contrast. you should try changing the pencil lines colors into a different color. maybe blue or tan.

Yeah , sound that sounds good. does anyone know how to change the actual colours of a line drawing?

Re: Neeko's Sketches (good for a laugh in the middle of the night)

I think to improve, try to produce:

    • more loose iterations i.e try filling a A4 page with say 9 (3,3,3) thumbnails of designs. Make them LOOSE, rough and trying primarily to get the overall shape and form before adding any details
    • Workup = from these designs, feel free to produce 3-4 pages worth of loose rough designs.
    • From all of these, choose a few images you like. around 3-5 max
    • These shapes, you should now retrace/detail and aim to get more proportions and anatomy right.
    • From these, choose one image to produce a full line drawing. Make it as clean as possible.
    • You now havea  good production line art drawing. ready for use in different media
Repeat and rinse 10-20 times per month

    Thanks for the replies all!

Gurch -I think you may be able to use a fill adjustment layer on the line art layer to change the color to something like blue. Ill check it out and let you know.

Koshime - Thanks for the large advice for improvement. I've rarely ever try to draw the same thing twice as I just sketch and move on. Maybe repetition is what I need to get better. I'll give this a shot and post up.
