ok, i've just opened a new canvas & clicked reset tool for the felt pens, the blend is normal, i haven't changed any settings & it's still the same, do you think like pix says it's because of the metallic slider thing? 

 *edit* yeah it is the metal slider, i'm sure it was full to the left before! urgh, well that's what the problem was then, so what's the point of that? it's like multiply?

I tried it with the metallic setting all the way up like you had it with both types of pen and still didn't get the problem you were having. The metallic thing just gives the stroke a shiny foil like surface. I haven't really used it much as it's a bit gimicky. I'm sure there's probably some use for it for something, I just haven't found it yet. Strange that it was causing that problem.

yeah it doesn't seem right banj, the slider makes it unusable really as you have no choice of colour then apart from brownish! well it'll be interesting to see if anyone else has this problem, i'm using the mac version, but i wouldn't think that would have anything to do with it.
