Banj: Wow! That is really cool. What did you create that with?

    Little colour update from me.

    Looking cool Scott.

That's actually Banj's portrait of me.

It's true. Martin is an old pair of socks.

Looking good there Martin! Where'd you get the fancy skull necklace? Lol.

Thanks sinistral, I must admit my lion is looking very much like a polar bear now. Not sure if I am happy about that. Getting a bit too similar to the one in The Golden Compass.

LOL you guys are really cracking me up.
Byron, Mark, Robin, Sinstrel and the rest of this nutty" mines up" gang that must be one of the strangest and mind boggling salutes ever.
Actually i've gone all high brow on you all. Excuse the interuption while i hijack this thread for a short while...( idunno can you hijack you're own thread? Hey Kazky i think i've just rewrote the rules to  your hijacking manual)

Weekend, and i went all culture vulture visiting an art gallery. There were Rubens, Renoir,  sculpture by Rodin, Gainsbourgh....To get to stand before the actual masterpieces painted by the artists hand is humbling thing indeed.
The Sunday was sunny and the gallery almost deserted, i ventured from one room to the next freely able to approach each piece, as there wasn't anyone about i could openly coo at each brush stroke.
I did find it staggering that here there were 13th to 20th century masterworks and yet no barriers to keep our distances in check. Sure there were guards but way off at the halls junctions. (nope that first picture isnt one of the guards!)

(These were huge! These figures were larger than life-size, heaven knows how many pixels this would amount to.)
Seeing in reality and seeing in reproduction on a page just doesn't compare.
Stood there i was entranced by the quality, I could see up close all the brush marks that were left and i could imagine how many breaths the artist took as he work on that arm or face,, i thought about the working styles of that day and age. They would have had no references and influences, not like the way we have and take for granted. I wondered as to how he procured all his materials, where he headed to get a canvas, and paints and his brushes, how they were made and by who. (They didn't even have lighting like we do!)
I stood and i enjoyed, but then i thought that the galleries of our future are gonna be sadder affairs with much less tangible goodies to display, we've all started a shift to commit our images digitally and sculpt in 3D packages and there is no way ever that could compare to the likes of this experiencing real paintings..

My best moment ha to be when my eyes landed on this Monet, oil on canvas, painted 1882 entitled the Church at Varengeville.  It was particularly gratifying to look at. I took this photograph after running my fingers lightly over the paint, wow the same paint that Claude applied over a century ago.
Wait a minute, this was a genuine genius, an actually real life Monet, how much would this thing be worth? 2 million? three million? I don't know but if i was weird i could have licked it.

On my way out i noticed the sign "no photography..no touching..etc..etc"

Re: MyFX Challenge #81 Horned - Wips

Okay back to normal mode, yeah if i get a chance I'll draw something up for this tomorrow, but that Amazonian Beauties threads got me more hornier!! LOL

Some really nice work here BTW.

Gix - that horn blowing alien is looking great, and i see you've done no skimping on the background. I like those veins you've gave him all over the body its like he's really blowing hard  for all his worth, notice you put in a textured backdrop too, nice going.
Yeah Byron and Jackdaw, everyone adores a good dinosaur picture..please deliver.
Malla - fabulous work, gonna love seeing this develop. Great just to find you here.
Ivy that is a cute critter, love the adorable expression.
xHastex a one fine looking sketch you got going there, great proportions and a nice design coming through, the only thing i would say is look at the hand that's holding the shaft. You got a background worked out yet?
Robin - yeah  Cloverfield is amazing i went crazy for that movie, there's very little wrong with it in my eyes, (except for why a 500 foot tall monster would stoop down and snap up a guy that only half the size of his tooth and bite him in half..that moment was the only flaw in my eyes.. still rate it as a top top movie.)
Robin, i like the way your drawing is coming along, you have a unique nightmarish vision and as usual this falls in the strange and brilliant category, look at that monster design, look how dark and scary those eye sockets are, its great! Just to top it all is that power drill she's carrying?
Tector-  hey and hi there, really nice drawing, great idea and in a world of its own, love the man and the snail mail arrival being announced by the horn, cant wait to see it move forwards, the painting that is not the snail.
Byron - Fab, more tips on approaching picture making, i'm really gonna try this cut out filter soon, I usually lay mine flat under a fluorescent tubes light and take a snap, in normal daylight the page either glows with reflected light or comes out greenish, probably due to my camera settings, Anyone else photograph their drawing and got any suggestions?
Zimfin, yeah as if lions aren't deadly enough without horns! Brilliant design on the armour and dressage on this beast.
Banj .. that demon looks truly amazing amazing amazing, how longs it take? Is it easy to colour these sculpt?
Mark very nice design, you said in the last challenge you were going to do more design oriented work this again is looking like mighty fine drawing, you have really modelled the shape with the shadows and highlights on the golden side. orientated like how you have not gone for an asymmetrical layout.
Sinistral the rhino's looking great, full body armour on a horned beast, he's gonna be able to take and dish some serious damage.
