You don't write what ammounts to a tutorial saying you've used no references other than your photographic memory, when it turns out you obviously have.

Anyway I think a line's been drawn under that incident.

Sure are some good pics on this thread,( unsubtle change of subject there). Lets have some crits for these worthy artists.

I know you think you understood what I said, but what you heard was not what I meant.

eagle castle - great update there. almost done you are
xhastex - nice updat too. keep it going.
rainforest - thats hilarious. made me smile on that latest image you got.
    seamansart - cool idea

lots of things going on here and interesting discussions too.I agree with all that has been said, but my opinion is that, let them all join this challenge. whether they admit or not that they cheat, use photos, paint over etc, in the end they are cheating themselves, their drawing/painting talents unhsharpened. It will be a great challenge for us as well to compete with this kind of artwork and  It will be a accomplishment for us to beat/surpass with the talents of our creativity and doing everything from scratch. this is just my humble opinion. and by the way, isnt this THE Challenge thread? so lets get it on! wohoo!

moving on, heres an update for me. hope I finish in time

    wip3-3.jpg picture by jeffmd4i

.....and moving on. There are some good images forming here.

Fillengroovy, this looked good pretty much off the bat. I love the deep and moody sea that threatens worse than the kraken emmerging from it. This is epic stuff.

xHaStex interesting seeing the pencil sketch come to life now you've started adding colour. It's not the cliche that my bog-eyed monster is, and consequently looks more menacing.

Rainforest goddess. Brilliant idea. The hands are shaping up nicely. Rather perversely I'd like to see the torment on their little fairy faces...sorry.

Rabbit. Just a superb image. Malicious and mischevious looking like some malevolent imp.

    edart.....I er..it's erm...defies words!

Critical Dean.Excellent picture, like the cover of some old 30's pulp comic, not that I remember the 30's....darn giving away my embrace date.

Everyone else, hey need more wips.

Not too sure how much more work you're going to put into the image xHa'. Possibly you could make the background a bit more distant.

    Hello people hows it going.
Rainforest where you at? How the wips coming along? It was nearly there when we last saw it looking great so far.
JeffMD thats a groovy looking beast now that its got its snarl on. So am i right in guessing that when you make a character in this program you can repose it anyway you want within reason?
xHaStex The green skinned look is very effective. You just need to make the facial areas pop out abit more perhaps add some brighter highlights about his forehead mainly on the eyebrows, cheekbones and nose. ANd dont you forget to drool.
Edat your croc faced woman was a very effective illustration indeed. some great touches in there, i love the tone of her smooth hip n leg area. You could even have used that as an entry.
Critical Dean boy you were fast, it appeared here and next time i looked it was finished. I love dinosaur picture so im really liking this piece, especially how you managed to get the half way below the waterline viewpoint. The look of the murky water is simply excellent.
Rabbit? where you gone? perhaps the chupakabra ate him.
Gixster still on vacation i guess.
    Fillengroovys kinda quiet too.
Eaglecasle, i didnt notice bout you name, dont be to fussed we all know that it was you in the mag. You got yours all done and posted up i see. cracking picture indeed.

Place a small human on one of the rock bridge things and it would give it massive scale Wink

Darn thats given me an idea for another painting thanks!

    Rabbit:

oooohhh, I cant pass this one up,

    Eagle- like the eyes

heres my take on the chupakabra

Looks ace. Every time I hear/read the word chupacabra, I hear bleating goats. Thanks Dexter's Lab. THANKS A BUNCH.

It's probably because I'm a yank (interpret that as see you see fit) but the Fourth of July is on a Friday. Thursday is the 3rd.

    Which witch is which?

I hate to say but I ain't gonna have time to contrib (no that's okay everyone, don't cry) unless I drink a whole ass load of coffee and paint nonstop for 12 hours. Well. it's kinda of possible...
