    raimo-stuff (mild nudity !)

You had to look when you read that "nudity" - part didn´t you ? Wink

Well, without any particular reason, here is some stuff I work with at the moment. I don´t have a "sketchbook" really, I draw on any piece of blank paper that happen to lay in reach of me...

Here comes the "nudity", not that horribble actually:

A request that has been a wip for a very long time...An anthro-character named Aheira, that yellow rope she is entangled in is supposed to be a Quetzal-coatl or feathered snake since this character resides in ancient Mexico...

This one (below) was originally intended for a weekly challenge here on the forum on the topic "Family pet" though it never came anywhere close to finished.

Well, it isn´t finished now either,...but I sort of like it so I will finish it, - probably... I am not sure if it will be in monochrome or colour yet,..this is one of the new ones, made with a Wacom-tablet !

And last; a typical raimo-sketch as they look before any computer-work, complete with holes and smeared paper:

I played a lot of Final Fantasy XII this summer and it is obvious whitch character I enjoyed the most...Her shoulder is wrong and that damn arrow looks crocked despite the use of a straight-ruler. Her ears should be longer but the great amateur raimo managed to missplace the character so parts of it got outside the paper as usual...Doubt that this one will be finished.

This is the character Fran from the game, sort of a "bunny-girl" you don´t mess with...

This game also gave me a new favourite artist: Yoshitaka Amano !

Thanks, Dchan and Bergy ! Yes, I love to draw details - perhaps too many of them sometimes...( takes forever !)

I am glad to hear that I am improving, I have had my Wacom for about a month now and I am getting the hang of it, little by little...Stick out tongue

    Re: raimo-stuff (mild nudity !)

Since I put the "warning" out I may aswell show this, I once amused myself by with making this image showing the steps in making one of my drawings, from first sketch to finished digital:

The computer steps in on the third faun, the first ones are graphite (normal pencil and paper) - with the Wacom I hope to eliminate the graphite stage and make it all on the computer. Making the process faster.

Excellent start on your sktechbook thread raimo, (best sales-pitch too!). It's good to see smeared paper and a bit of scruffiness juxtaposed with such precise, careful attention to detail.  All those scales and maybe the decorative quality, vaguely reminded me of Patrick Woodroffe's work.

    Re: raimo-stuff (mild nudity !)

    Thanks, Will !

A smeared sketch tells something about the creative process I think. Before the computers I used to keep a piece of smooth plastic under my drawing hand to protect the paper, but these days there are scanners and computers that will clean up ones sketch...The digital techniques takes away the charming imperfections of real media...

I checked up Patrick Woodroffe on Google, and sure; the man paints as I want to do, ( thanks for the tip Will ! Yes )

I am rather inspired by Art Noveau so that shows in my stuff I guess...I´m very fond of artists like MW Kaluta and his likes.

    Re: raimo-stuff (mild nudity !)

I like to doodle at my work, when opportunity is given, ( not so often these days because the pace of produktion is stepped up all the time Sad ) Still, it is a good way to keep awake on long nightshifts...This stuff is done without any reference which creates very strange images:

    And like this:

    I might manage to draw girls whitout reference but animals is a very different thing;

This one ( below ) I plan to take further in the computer:

    Re: raimo-stuff (mild nudity !)

Thanks Bergy ! Some of this stuff is rather old, I wish I had saved more of the things I doodled at my job but I left most of it there and it has gone lost since then.

Looking at this you people may think I spend most of my time drawing semi-nude women ( I do actually - thinking of it...) but here are some different things:

Could make a decent Santa of him...

Bronze-age, scandinavian hair-do...After watching a programme on TV on the subject...

( Below ) The death of a filt-pen during a boring cruise between Sweden and Finland...Used up all the ink on this image...

    Re: raimo-stuff (mild nudity !)

MOORE doodles...Sleep (got a lot of these...)

Under a period I tried to write fantasy-typed stories,..didn´t turn out well but to inspire my imagination I drew these characters from one of the (unfinished !) stories:

A sort of wolf-human race, very strong and...hairy.

The female was of course funnier to draw so the poor male didn´t get as much work invested in him:

I draw surprisingly many archers, don´t really know why...

    Here is one more:

Well, back to the parceling of those christmas-gifts, (why do they make parcel-paper so thin these days ? Angry)

    May Hathor protect you !
