Pretty much painted all day, I can tell this by the expression on my wife's face.

Here's an update on "El Luchador".

Damn, I've missed a week but its still not too late to jump in the fight, err, the challenge :) I got a pencil sketch; will take a pic of it and work on it in photoshop before posting - who knows, I might even make the whole thing in time for the deadline AND produce a new, mysterious fighter for the Fight Club ;)

Pretty pictures - quite a superficial goal in life, huh? Too bad, I guess...

Re: 12th Biweekly Rebel Challenge WIP thread.. Gladiator, fighter & brawlers.

Hi all, i'm back, Vie been of on a little sea going voyage in another thread (blame Gix and Eaglecaste lol)
There's been some solid work going on here, beauties indeed.
Firstly im curious who the heck is Barry Bonds and what's his story?
Fillengroovy that is one huge tangler there. I like the almost cartoony feel you have brought to this and still made the face look menacing. The crowd work is amazing, i know i've gotta work on some crowds in mine not sure how to approach it. If there is any crits i would make its, just that the yellow of the boots and the trim of his mask seems a bit bright and plain, i would add just a smudge of shade to show some contours especially on the face, the other thing i would do is because the guys is colossal i would have given him a darker shadow beneath to give the impression of his bulk and weight and make him even more imposing.
The lighting is well done and i adore the texture of the canvas.
LOL was the expression of your wife's face a little like what you've captured?
Gix nice to have you on board mate. Nice start (you could say a head start even), good David and Goliath idea. However looking at it logically i would think that to hold a head up like that would be hard on the arm, to really sell the idea of holding a loft such a huge noggin you would have to alter the stance of the hero guy, wider leg placing and leaning back..showing some strain. Also the guys need to bulk up, his waist is too tiny. I know how fast you are hope you haven't finished already mate, slow down sometimes okay.
Hi Mr Martin, you got some colour in yet? I like that you have added a mysterious second figure, its horny rhino right? I love the face of your lion beast and those wounds carry the story. The only thing i can say is about the tail, i like it because it look so naturally place yet i think the form of it seems wrong at the moment...I may be wrong, but what's anyone else verdict?
Actually i think you should move the rhino shape in a bit more show the shape of the leg so it echoes the negative space between the arm and the thigh, and you've gotta give him a weapon too a morning star flail would be cool!

Re: 12th Biweekly Rebel Challenge WIP thread.. Gladiator, fighter & brawlers.

Jeff MD that is one impressive figure you got there. How on earth some people manage to capture sooo much with such an economical use of shapes and outlines is beyond me. You have what basically amount sot a few blobs (no disrespect meant there) and yet this guy already has bucket loads of attitude, weight and a threatening presence., he's heavy duty already!
I don't know if it is your intention, but it seems as if he has a visor on, and gives that riot police vibe of authority and imposing strength (i bet this is how some of the moderators here see themselves)
By the way congratulations for the honorary mention in the latest Imagine Fx, (its the mock cover challenge in case you haven't seen it yet)
Thank you for your comments about my work, im really touched,
Its an honour to have someone with your skill here, it makes it less like WIP around here and more VIP.

Re: 12th Biweekly Rebel Challenge WIP thread.. Gladiator, fighter & brawlers.

Rey i like how yours is coming along, i see that you have used opposing colours here, red for the BG and blue to make the figure pop forward Nice texture on those rocks too. looking forward to see the anger in this dudes face being realised in more details. Keep up the good work.
Dead meat come on in..you name fits and your more than welcome to join us. hey what part of Bulgaria you from? Are you anywhere near Burgas?
Jackdaw a nice clean cut hero type, in victorious mode. Yes, the idea of read petals showering down on the winner is a great touch. In gladiator the mean old ruler gets the rose petal treatment as he rises up into the stadium full of cheering crowds, that image stuck with me and i also intend to fill my space with red confetti
Greeting xHastex you got a distinctive Mongol look going on there, he's got a sneaky vibe going. its as if he drawing out a secretly concealed weapon whilst his back is turned to an unsuspecting foe. You gotta make him the bad guy. And thanks ever so much for your comments.
