Re: NINTENDO DS and COLORS any tips?

I am on a government funded training course learning Autocad, hope to get a decent job when I finish! Also look after my dad.

Actually I just searched around online and the cheapest I could find an Iphone was £195. Am I bothered? Nope because one day I will have what I want, just not right now LOL

Anyway to keep this thread on topic I dug my clunky old DS out of the draw last night and realised why I put it there, It's annoying trying to use Colors when the centre of the screen is scratched and so makes lovely straight, but random lines all over my painting! Embarrassed

You sound like a good guy Ed, i sure you'll be high up on Santa's list.

Maybe you can get the screen polished up or replaced from somewhere.

Hey only 187 days 12 hours and 52 minutes to go.

    Hah gotcha!!

Well if you hold the four fingers of one hand with the other hand then you are holding four fingers. That is if you have them attached to your hands, if not then it would be impossible to hold your own fingers because you would have no fingers to hold your fingers with. Which would mean someone else would have to hold them for you, unless of course you had prosthetic hands in which case you could hold up all eight fingers. That would be the case if you were a normal human but not so if you were a mutant like the Xmen. Because then you may have more than eight fingers or even more than two hands in which to hold. So the answer would be you are holding up infinite fingers or none!Stick out tongueHmm

Hey Hey Gurch, you got it working... You're paintings look awesome!!!
All I've had with me for the last week has been my old DS and colors, but no internet connection, and here lately my micro card has been acting silly, so I try not to take it in and out of the Cartridge.  But anyway... Great work... We need to find a place to post the draw files so we can see the video... (any mods listening?)

Re: NINTENDO DS and COLORS any tips?

Hey there, Gix you're back. hope you had a good break.
Thanks for the kind comments, i wasn't expecting too much from the DS's capabilities but i must say i was bowled over by the results. Im just learning what does what  so that second picture was just a tester to see how it fared with darker solid colours, i actually copied that from a beauty magazine.
I meant to ask, what's the best way to get the files off the Nintendo? Is it possible to make use of its Wi-fi function to wirelessly transmit the picture to the PC? That would be neat. Yes, i agree a spot to place a DS gallery would be useful. Those art in progress videos it conjures up are very clever.

Getting the files off the DS (for me) right now depends.  My micro card has been VERY temperamental and I've had to reformat the whole thing a bunch of times.  So right now, I at least send the image to myself via e-mail before I mess with putting the card on computer, I've learned the hard way you can never be too careful.

Re: NINTENDO DS and COLORS any tips?

I have just discovered a nice little trick:

I was browsing the DS with dsorganise and in the Colors directory is a file called Colors.xml I edited the max and minimum pressure settings so that they were 99 and 5 respectively, saved the file and started Colors. Wow real pressure sensitivity Big Smile I'm wondering if there is anything else I can add to that file?

Re: NINTENDO DS and COLORS any tips?

Take that ds off of the gurch - the paintings are tooooo good.  Nice one though sir!  Glad you are part of this.

I thought that we should have some sort of ds only venue for images, especially with the coming mag enocuraging ds use.  I can't get the wifi thing to work.  No idea why not.

And as for the pressure sensitivity, try also really close numbers.  I found it was better that way for me at any rate.

Byron, I've noticed that "larger" images have a hard time being sent through wifi.  Also, is your DS wifi enabled?

Re: NINTENDO DS and COLORS any tips?

Hi all, yep thats one thing thats been bugging me too, how do you get wi-fi images over to your computer? I pick up the wireless signal in my house but how do i config the DS? I thought that maybe it was only set up to connect wi-fily with other DS's.

That would be a neat touch to have them sent by wi-fi magic.

I havent actually had a chance to do any more work on the Ds just yet ..but that touch sensitive tip of yours edart sound brilliant. Cheers for that.

Re: NINTENDO DS and COLORS any tips?

    Alrighty then...
First you need to get a game that has wifi abilities on it.
Second, go into that games options and set it up to work in your network (pass keys, encryption, or whatever you use)
Once you get all that set up, it's saved on your DS and you should be able to use the wifi from any program including Colors.  But as I've said, I really think Colors is kind of temperamental about sending larger files (lots of strokes) through the wifi connection.  To test it, just send a simple smily face, or use DS Organize to check the web browser.
