eagle: wow! that image is absolutely amazing! you are definitely leaps and bounds ahead of me, that's for sure.
well, i was sitting around eating a slice of medeira loaf and drinking coffea when i thought i'd start brainstorming for this challenge. well, this is what came out. it's only the pencil sketch for now but i will be redoing it digitally later, unless, i have another piece of medeira and start a new sketch that is.
Raoul Duke: There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
Thanks ever so much for your comments Koshime, I'm very grateful.
I've yet to put much work into her right arm and lower limbs and the reason is astutely spotted by you. I not sure how to do 'em. I'm worried about her feet, particularly her left, and her right forearm and hand I can foresee being a nightmare.
Anyway it's early days yet. A few more hours hunched over the tablet will sort it out.
eagle: sorry but the medeira is all mine! i think i'll have another piece just to spite you
and hanging from the rafters, observing your dangling feet isnt pervy at all, well perhaps from this angle it is (tilts head). ah, medeira and a show

eagle -really like ur updates. the material is great -especially on her torso - looks so silky an lurvely. how u gonna draw if ur hanging from the rafters? ...unless ur on a rope after that crit!?
robin ur sketches are always so weird and mutated - and oh so distinctive.
i did a wee bit more sketching on mine... and rotated the thing... so now the skelly looks like its getting up out of a casket. i kinda prefer it.. will look with fresh eyes tomorrow.
I spent all afternoon pencilling in something spartan, but couldn't get it down. Before i looked on the forum i had gone through quite a few of the poses that other folks here have done, but wasn't happy. in the end something completely different appeared when at last i started laying some things down. Anyhoo - here's a bunch of WIP's and i have added some annotations as well on the way through. You may have to click to read them though.

ok, will try to make something a little less mutated. i do love my beasties though. will start thinking of a new sketch then.

I don't know why i am fussing over it, but i realise my hand writing on tablet is pretty bad, and you can't read that i created a 'bark' paper, not back paper which it looks like. If anyone wants to try it and has a copy of painter and photoshop, get a texture off the net (all legal like of course!) and put it in photoshop. Desaturate the whole image. Jack the levels to create an extreme contrast where you just get black and white. And hey presto, scaleable rocks. I guess you could use multiply and drop them into photoshop in the same way, but I like using them with the chalks in painter, which i must admit are fast becoming my fave tool.
Robin, reallylike your pencil sketch, very nice, you going to colour it up. Chris, had a little jig about with what you said. I did think he seemed a bit out of place with the trees, so I'm gonna try do give him a bit of an Ent/Swamp Thing kind of makeover I think, not sure how well I'll be able to pull it off, still having probs with his muscles as predicted lol. But mainly having SEVERE difficulty with colour scheme, thats always a bit of a problem of mine. Anyone any suggestions? Took him into PS to try a few out.
Byron, really like the colours, great idea, I know you want to have him relatively relaxed, but I think you could maybe make his pose slightly more tense. he slightly looks like he's leaning forward at the mo, just my personal choice though. Chris, love the skeleton, I think maybe his jaw is a little small and his necks not long (not that I'm any expert on anatomy lol) and could the coffin be at a slightly different angle, the straightness of it seems a little, em... straight lol.
