ooh already have a few ideas for this! will start scratching them out in pencil right away!

Raoul Duke: There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Carly. Improve that pose to a more dynamic pose. before doing a coloured version (i.e lots of small gestural shapes/forms and get the best one you'd like to see illustrated)

Here's my first sketch, intend putting a tree in behind him with some kind of hole down into some kind of kingdom or maybe down to the underworld! I'm enjoying drawing trees at the minute lol.

    and to the crits..

indeed early days! xhastex - finding it hard to see what u got coming together there.. will comment when you post more.

skullboy - again, early days... i know this is only a first sketch, but watch the anatomy.. length of her arms and the  feasability of her pose. keep posting as it progresses.

stevenK - you always have such life and brilliant body language to your poses. a real sweet pic!

eaglecaste - nice proportions. and i think the gun was a good choice. she looks really angelic, but with a big dirty mechanical gun. like it very much so far.

carly - not much to comment on yet... i want to see if thats the pose you're gonna settle on.. and in what environment? the brassy colours are nice so far. i reckon the light play and reflections are whats really gonna pull this together for you when you get more done.

foxy - do you realise how hard it is to get anatomy on 4armed creatures looking right? AND that looming/hulking pose is so hard too! i quite liked the first sketch... mainly cos it looked like a spider-creature of some sort. would be nice if the creature physicallity is influenced by his location. like the tree backdrop too - give more of a narrative quality!

actually, the environment could be such a key factor for this challenge... Guardian - of what?  Hmm

lol, i had quite a lot to say for so little being posted. looking forward to seeing these develop. Big Smile

Re: MYFX Challenge #73 - The Guardian - WIP Thread

    Hi eagle.

The current WIP (if you block the lower torso/legs) look alright.

    Things to consider:

    • Too much detail vs overall form/gesture in the initial WIP can result in a static stance.
    • The char head/upper body >> bigger in proportion to lower body.
    • Does this character have any waists? hips? lower limbs.
    • For a madonna like physique.....the R arm tricep can be show to integrate with the bicep nicely. To show one structure in front of another. Whereas currently, the two muscles look disembodied.
    • The lower legs, going for that storm floating like effect is fine, however It is strange/hard to delineate which is the Right or Left leg. Some balletic poses for reference might help out alot in this piece.

    G luck
