For some reason, I just can`t stop working on this image. I repainted the body, changed the pose a bit, satisfied so far...but I really can`t wait till my classes and exams are over, so that I can devote all my time to anatomy studies. I`m sick of drawing/painting my characters in same old posture. And frustrated for not being able to make a decent/normal looking male figure. Argh...

hmmm....I like both ways you had the arms so either or. I think you should build up something in the background though, even if it's just added a mix of cool blues back there. having her on the flat gradient is really making her look like she's pasted on top of the background.

You`re reading my mind I`ll tackle the background as soon as I`m finished with the character. I`m leaving it for the end b/c I`ve never painted a background in my life, so it will be "quite an experience"...
Update...AGAIN...sorry for spamming so much, I just really like the way things are going right now. Look - she even has a hand! I painted a hand! With (almost) no refs! Looks flat, I know, but - it looks like a hand! Woot!
*Wah, I`m just doing my nails and saying stupid things...
lol. nice hand but you may want to take a quick look at a reference. right now the hand is looking slightly bony and the first section of the finger is a little too long and the second part of the finger is a little too short.

More tweaking, fixing the hand (thanks, fabledgoat ) and such. I read a blog where it says that rookies usually tend to hide the things they can`t paint, and then it looks horrible spite all the glitter and lightning they make...made me re-think what I was doing. And then I decided to stop covering up things I can`t draw, even if it takes me a lot more time to finish. I`m keeping the fur, though! Just have to repaint it a bit more...
Note to self - if you`re painting a face w/o planning to make the rest of the body, then STICK TO PAINTING A FACE!

Thanks! You`re turning into a regular here, huh? I should get you some beer and snacks to enjoy the show even more
Last one for today. Such a slow progress, but one should not rush things...nice and slow. Repainted the fur. Learned that painting fur is not that fun if you`re having an OCD. Made peace with it. Next stop - adding the lower extremities, fixing the position of the hand, and I really have to start thinking about the ornaments on her body. And the dreaded...gulp...background....

Oh my goodness...she is looking stunning! I love her face! It's beautiful! I just have one little crit for the breasts, one looks bigger than the other...Other little things you could add is some highlighting to the fur on the left (her right) as I see that the main highlights on her body are there, I also think her fur should be a little messy like you had in before, it looks too neat....also add some shadow under her hand, it's looking a little flat...Some color of the suit should be slightly bouncing off onto her fur...
Also, don't be afraid to add more variations of blue to her suit and fur, it looks one color at the moment, just experiment, because this piece can achieve stunning reality
I'm loving this piece! I'm really impressed by the quality of your work at this moment
Emilia! I was really hoping you`d pop up in here! Thank you for the crits, I honestly never would have thought about them! Shows just how much I have to learn...
The body(suit) is not my favorite thing about this one right now. I have no idea which other colors to use and where...I`m just too affraid to experiment. Still don`t have the answer to that question - how much is too much? As for the fur - funny thing - I posted this one (well, just the one with the face) on another site, and a girl told me that the fur looked horrible, and that I should paint it nicely. So now I`m confused - messy or combed? Got to figure that out...
More progress - adding the legs, making some fixes (again, thanks, Emilia ), realising just how weird the pose is...I have to dig out some references...

I actually like the fur back here the best and I liked it on the arm. right now your fur is coming across a bit more like she's got a lot of hair that's in need of a cut. where's as this past wip shows kind of the scraggly nature that you'd find with fur. it's not perfect like hair and that's one of the things that makes it pleasing to the eye.

More tweaking (including the fur - you were right, it looks much more natural this way), but the composition is a bit off...I think I`ll have to paint the other arm as well, just to give it some balance. Right now she`s way too shifted to the left. Have to tone it down a bit.
People...do I post too much? I mean, I really appreciate your input, it`s helping me notice thing I`d never take in consideration, but...am I boring you? I feel like a kid that just figured out what a toilet seat is for, and is rushing to show his parents, all proud...LOL

I hope you don't mind but I did a very quick paint-over to show you what I mean with playing around with colors without actually messing your piece....So I quickly cut out her suit, duplicated it and changed the colors by playing around with the hues, then I erased here and there, so you not actually painting, you just using what you got and changing it...
as for the fur looking a little messy I used the smudge tool to give it wisps of fur around her, so it looks a little more fluffy...then I cut out the fur, duplicated it and lightened it in the hues/saturation potions, then erased bits here and there and achieved highlights without having to paint...the lower leg is a little too short, I marked it with red...to change her breast use the liqufy tool, I tried fixing them but I think they came out a little wobbly, lol
I didn't really paint on anything, but just used the tools available in photoshop...the colors I used for her suit might not be correct, it's just to show you how quickly it can be done and that gives it depth...
