Re: Daily Sketch Challenge - ImagineFX Collaborative Sketchbook 2009

martin - Thanks. I've never drawn a Skrull before, and I had to draw a character who uses disguise or shapeshifts for a Jam on another forum, so this killed two birds with one stone.

zubusa - There's a very nice peaceful feel to this; solomon01 - I like the sketchyness very much, but... (read below)

I've noticed that a few people are ignoring the request to keep file sizes to under 150K. This is for the ease of viewing of everyone, so they don't have to wait ages for everything to load. Please play the game.

Oops, sorry. I missed that despite the fact that it was all caps and in bold, way on the top there. Embarrassed

Ahem,  These files are pretty small to begin with so no trouble here.

NOTE: I just adjusted my image to fit the standards.

    Thanks Coffee

ok this is a bit more than a sketch but it's been something i've had in my mind for ages & never really started, so i've had time on my hands today so i thought i'd play around & get a point!

i don't think i'll last, and when its 'back to normal' i.e work again, there'll be nothing more than scribbles.

anyway, this movie terrified me & still does, i have some strange fears! My depiction of The Ring, where she comes out of the tv *shudders*

    1 point! yay

    Scary stuff, love that film!

Ok. here's my entry #1... I was doing some work on light/objects etc last week and my Dad says, "Vermeer!" So I got a book on him today ("complete works" - freaking AWESOME) - this is just a quick rendition of the painting "Woman holding a balance" - woulda liked to spend some more time, especially on the face, but getting late...

This is my first image so I have 1 point,Click to enlarge

Sorry if it's too small or too big, had some resizing issues.

The quality may also be poor because our scanner is ill.

It is Travis barker the drummer from Blink 182, I partially used a reference.

ok this is embarassing. So many great sketches here. We spent the afternoon on tynemouth beach so I took my sketchbook so trad pencil on paper wearing gloves and my fingers were still freezing. tried to capture the canoeists and surfers in the distance lots more people than pictured. and the ship waiting for high tide to come in. Very embarrassing, perhaps an indoor sketch tomorrow. hope this counts? great work everyone very high standard already

That's actually pretty awesome Nimh, you're too hard on yourself, pics like this are what the "sketchbook" are all about! Especially doing it in the cold, I tried that the other week and gave in very quickly lol.

    Nice entry.

Nimh, that is -awesome-!  Drawing from life is such a completely different experience than drawing from a reference that is already flattened into 2D, and you made it all that much more challenging by daring the freezing weather outside.  Talk about attacking a challenge head-on!  This one definitely counts in my book -- I can easily see it used as a study for a more fleshed out painting.  Keep it up!
