    Thats about the point I realize I'm sitting at work... have 5 and a half hours left... and have been a very good girl, spending my evenings sketching the ole' traditional way so I can get a portfolio together and get meself into art school next year...

    ... but now I want to draw pirates....

     arrrgh... Who be holding the rum?

    Worship me oh insignificant mortals!

    I really wanted to come aboard, but you guys have gone and set sail for me now. Okay, i'm bunging on an old sketch its not my entry, Aye will come up with a new one if i can squeeze some G time in. Could really have done with this being a month long voyage, I find it a joy to daydream about pirates.

    Hey Captain Echo, i think we're gonna need a bigger boat, this challenge has captured everyone's imagination.
    And i cant stop with all this pirate talk.
    What with Tectors addictive cowboy talk and now these pirate utterances,  i hope i having unwittingly been answers the fone in character!

    Hello Mr Gurch, how many brown and purple portraits of the Queen do you have at the moment?

     
    And would a portrait of Johnny Kidd (as opposed to Depp) qualify for MyFX Challenge #79?

    Hello Mister T, now that is a bizzare coincidence i was only pondering upon my proud collection of Queens portraits not more that two hours ago.

    Having spent enough time on the background for the time being I switch to the figure.

    I like to thrown down quick color, shadow, highlight and reflected light so I can squint at it and get a quick, easy impression of what the final result may look like.

    At the moment I'm *hating* brown so ill be erasing this and painting it over and over in different tones until I find a combination that I like.

    As you can see, i'm also messing around with having one arm bare skinned. If I like it, ill keep it, otherwise she'll get covered up again.

    Lookin' good Wendy, I'm probably going to pick up on something you are already aware of here, the skin tone on her torso is different to that on her face and hand. Looks lovely otherwise!

    thanks for that mark :) i had noticed, i did a boo boo, i deleted the skin tones and had to redo, i hope this looks better matched. im done for tonight, hopefullt will finish tomorrow but im getting my new dog tomorrow so will be tied up with settling him in, its a Husky and im all excited Big Smile

    Some awesome jaw dropping work here..
    Hows it going so far Eaglecaste, great charcter skecth you got sstarted with,he has that weather beaten sea dog flavour to him. Psst are ye gotta let me catch up?
    Sinisteral, thats a classic space opera look that. Love the way you've painted it so far. Reminds me of a movie poster.
    Wow Charco yours certain has jumped into life with the finishing touches.
    Favreau like how its developing, love that fine lattice grid work that you've put in.
    Jack daw nice bunch, your gonna have to put some work in not long left now. You and me both i've only just got my outlines drawn!
    Seamanarts she is lovely, she is ship shap for sure!!   love how smoothly you've done her skin. I was looking at the big size work in progress and through her eye patch you can clearly see she has two good eyes  it must be a fashion thing the eyepatch. (oh i see you fixed it in the later version)
    Mark those are the cutest bunch of pirate around. Great backdrop.
