Suit up folks – it's sci-fi time!

Issue 93 goes on sale this Friday, but here's a sneak peak at what we've got in store for you. We're thrilled to showcase the incredible talents of comic book artist Admira Wijaya – what do you think of his mech cover? Admira's creation is an exercise in how to ground an outlandish sci-fi creation in reality, and you can discover how in his exclusive workshop.  

Staying with sci-fi, pin-up favourite Serge Birault gives the iconic Barbarella a kitsch comic makeover, and if last issue's steampunk theme got those ideas flowing, be sure to check out Clint Cearley's workshop exploring how to create a sinister steampunk villain.

My copy arrived a few hours ago and I'm thrilled to see a good chunk of input from the uber talented Terryl Whitlatch on critter anatomy.  Great to see Ian Miller given the IFX treatment at last too.  Icing on the cake is a Kitsch workshop from Serge Birault, and others in more moody style from Sefan kopinski and Clint Cearley.  Drooling continuously already and I've only skimmed the pages so far.

And now I've realised Max Kostenko is in the workshop mix.  I knew there was something about that face in the 'expression' one.  Love his stuff . . .

My guess is that when it's windy like it is now in the UK, they have trouble directing the pixels.  Pixels don't weigh much apparently.

We could definitely do with more Serge, I agree Valence.  I reckon you'll like the Max Kostenko workshop as great consolation prize.  He's wonderful too.

Best not thank me for the aural distraction just yet until you've suffered it.  Happy to waffle at folk any time I get the chance though.  Clint's vids have got sound and there's three of them - woohoo.

Glad to hear the positive response to the issue so far.

Valence – I know! Serge was all ready to do a video, he even recorded a chunk... but then he totally changed the image! Reworked it from scratch, and then there was no vid. 

I think the Nick Harris audio makes up for it though!! Great to hear and see his art process... love the swirling composition video especially.
