Headed back into this black and white with color.

I am in mid detail/lighting phase, still have a ways to go to get the lighting where I am trying to go, but I thought I would post for any feedback so I can address any suggestions as I push this through.

For so far I find your painting great even as it is not finished yet. Also good that you have two lightsources who's lights are of a total different colors.

The shadow from the big fella would appear to be cast via the main white light source from the book, but the illuminated area around his shadow is in the orangey colour of the secondary light source, which is wrong. The white light is much stronger than the orange light, so the lit areas of the background should use its light colour, with the weaker secondary light illuminating the shadow areas.

Em- I see what you mean I though it looked cool till you pointed it out now I see how it didnt make sense, I fixed it, then had to adjust the amount of orange/purple in the shadow so it reads as a shadow from the book, I tend to get lost in my own minutia and miss stuff like this!

Just a detail but I think the light that shines on the right(for him left) ear of the green monster should go more to the color  of the white light then the orange light.

The only thing that bothers me majorly is the lighting on the girl's face. The highlight on her right cheek, and the lack of cast shadows from her headpiece are flattening her face for me. She also appears to be a tad crosseyed.

Hey

It's not easy to give a face that is looking right at us some volume. Besides that I think that the face should look little to the right so you get a small 3-quarter view of the head. That would make it more interesting view then the "flat face" we got now.

Thank you both for the feedback, sorry been a few on response been little busy.

I am gonna work on the head to create some more volume so it doesn't read as flat!

I post after i get something done!
