Long time reader no poster. I've been posting sketchbooks on other forums aswell. But i figure the more input i gain the wiser i will get and the more it will encourage me to improve upon my skills. So it's my pleasure to join this forum with this set of studies. 

Welcome!  Great set of studies to start a SB with :)  About the only crit I have at the moment is with the last study. Theres some proportion issues with the eyes (a tad large0 and width of face (too slim).  Also theres a stronger cast shadow under the jawline towards the back of the head (in the photo) which isn't present (or visible enough) which makes the jaw appear to blend into the neck.

 Looking forward to more :) 

[Edit: I might also take a look at some of the values in the environment piece, like the sides of the structure facing the viewer]

I agree with what you said and thank you for pointing it out. I am doing more studies on faces as a whole. Both in color and value.  Will post them up here when i get a few pieces down. 

I think i have more pressing matters when it comes to the enviroments but value certainly is one of them. My number one concern is that i need to set my perspective better. So i will be studying more achitecture. Perhaps start in value and then work my way over to color.
