November 2012 - MYFX Monthly Challenge - Kids TV Grown Up - WIPs

    Hello all,

This months challenge is called: 'Kids TV Grown Up'

The challenge is to think of your favorite Kids TV show, and then re-imagine it "Grown Up". Maybe you'll paint the main characters grown up (Ash and Pikachu with long beards and wisdom in their eyes), or illustrate a scene from a show re-vamped for an adult audience (Oscar the grouch getting busted for crack)....? Have a think and have a play. Be as creative as possible! :)

There is one extra requirement for this challenge.... All entrants should post a link or an image of the show they are referencing (if posting an image, post in the WIP thread and link to it when posting your final). This will aid the spirit of the competition as we're all from different territories so might not know the same kids TV shows!

    Deadline:

Midnight (GMT) on Friday 30th November. There is a 5 minute grace period allowing people to get their posts and links sorted. A moderator will then post a list of valid entries after checking links and voting will begin and continue until midnight (GMT) on 7th of the following month. Crits are welcomed during the voting process. Toward the end of the current challenge a new challenge setter will be randomly chosen from those taking part in the WIP thread to set the next monthly challenge, so keep an eye out.

Post your final entries in the FINALs thread (comments without entries - or without votes during the voting process - will be deleted). All other comments and all WIPs (required for entry) should be posted in this thread

    Brief rules and additional info:

Two separate wips must be posted in the wip thread and clickable links must be posted in the final thread with the final image. A link is provided below to details of how to do this. You will be disqualified if you do not post WIP links correctly. If you have a problem posting wips or creating links please pm me.

All artwork must be the work of the entrant, and completed within the time frame of the challenge. You may only enter 1 entry per challenge, and may only cast 1 set of votes during voting.

Please keep entries and WIPs below 500k and a maximum of 1000 pixels across. Larger files causes problems for all users, especially those on slower connections.

Moderators monitor the voting in these challenges to combat cheating and maintain fairness. We may discount any vote we consider suspicious, and will disregard any attempts at sabotaging the voting, or in any way screwing with these challenges.

Not just from different territories, different generations as well... I'm not sure i can remember that far back. I think we had tv, it was a black and white thing with three channels :)

I DO remember absolutely loving these illustrations by Ron Embleton, probably more than the program itself, looking back I'd say they were one of my first influences other than Marvel comics and 2000AD and coming way before any exposure to Frazetta or Vallejo.

Okay I think I'll join in on this one...I've been wanting to do something like this for months, and now's my chance!! My first thought was the Magic School Bus... but then... Dexter's Lab... or Powerpuff Girls... No idea how I'm gonna do it yet, but I'm getting excited! (Can you tell I'm a 90's kid?)

This is a really good topic!

I'll try and enter. I'm going to go for a gritty post-Dark Knight reboot of Bananaman.

Here's my first WIP. I'm fairly happy with the colours, but apart from that I'm still pretty clueless on where I'm going with it.

@tbydxn - Dude! Wish I had thought of that! Amazing. Already love the lighting in this... the light catching the rain in that one spot is inspired. :)

This could Be fun My favorite show as a kid was The Six Million Dollar Man. Maybe I'll play with that one. Would a pre-adult TV show count?
