I'm not usually one for overlayed textures and stuff, but it seemed right for this. Here's the "clean" version:

I actually enjoy the clean version more. The black and white palette is a big factor here, that's the Bela Lugosi I have known - from old black and white movies. The scene is also very well lit in the clean version, while the textured one seem to have bright spots everywhere and it's kind of distracting.

Agree with Yian here. Both look very good, but the B&W version is just awesome! (also not a big fan of textures, etc.) takes me longer to paint everything, but well worth it to me. :)

These are great images Em, its interesting to see the difference you can get from the same piece of artwork which shows a commercial aptitude as well as great artistic skill (ie one could be used as an old grunge poster and the other as an atmospheric representation in any magazine) and the bat eyebrows are one of those things that you think "why haven't I seen that before?" great stuff.

Perhaps add a wonderful rubber bat on wires in the background :)

I think MATArt described the difference best - the "clean" version is me-as-illustrator; the textured version is me-as-graphic-designer. I like both for different reasons.

BTW, I was trolling around the web last night trying to find out who did the artwork for the closing credits in "Hotel Transylvania" (if anyone knows, tell me!) and came across this gem. Pretty exciting to just stumble across one of your pieces!

I haven't seen Hotel Transylvania, but its director Genndy Tartakovsky was the man behind the Clone Wars 2D series, plus Dexter's Laboratory and Samurai Jack - so, I'd guess he brought in some of the same people he used on them.
