    Hi Curtmatle,

And thanks for the nice comments.

ArtRage3 is in Beta3 at the moment, and getting ever closer. to escaping   The team is working flat out to iron out wrinkles and cram as much in to this release as they can.  With the complete overhaul they're giving it, it was bound to take a while.  I'm as keen to see it on the loose as you are, along with about ten million other fans.

Neeeeeeearly there.  Not too long now.  If I hear any advance news I will let everybody know in this thread.

    Best,

    Nick

Your article in IFX 25 (Dance of the Vampires) is what encouraged me to try and subsequently buy ArtRage 2.5 in the first place.

Impatient though I am, I'd much prefer they take their time and get it right. Too many applications are forced into release too early, causing frustration to the users.

    I can wait... I think. :)

No more than two minutes, and no less than 48 seconds after the time my jaw hits my chest because AR3 has actually appeared, and I hear about it.  I'd like to be more precise but my jaw is a bit floppy and unpredictable.

Sounds good Nick, hopefully with the release of ArtRage 3 the package will put more than a foot in the door in terms of industry level image development, and proceed with taking over the world, one release at a time!

Takecare mate, and thanks for the update :)

Boy, oh boy! ArteRage is sooo cool! I love it. That´s some good news.

All i need is a square brush, and no brush size limit on the keyboard shortcut. And maybe a palette area where i can mix the colors. That´s really all i need.

Freaggin good software, man. So good.

This month's ImagineFX (045) states that in next month's issue there will be article by Nick on ArtRage 3.

Quote:  Nick Harris explores the possibilities of this low-cost Photoshop alternative.

I am excited about that. ImagineFX 046 is out on Tuesday 30th June and I'll be on Honeymoon so will have to wait a few days longer than other subscribers. Good that IFX are doing something like this though.

I agree, it is just my absolute favourite software at the moment even though I just got Painter 11 (which is also great). I just can't wait to see what AR three brings :)

Re: Keep Your Eyes Open for the arrival of ArtRage 3 - It's a must have

    Er!  um . . . .

Sorry to disappoint but . .

Might not be next month after all, as the software isn't quite ready yet.  The development team are working their collective socks off on it to bring the very best new version out that they can.  It's just taking them a little bit longer than they originally planned - mainly because they keep making it better and better, as they get feedback from the beta forum users.

I'll be amazed if it isn't wondrous when it does escape into our eager clutches and can only apologise on their behalf for any necessary delays.

The IFX team only just found out there was a possible problem with the original date - and I believe (though am willing to be corrected) that it's more likely to be the month after next, if there is to be a workshop.  It's out of our control until the AR team give us the go ahead, with a software that they are happy to let loose.

    I'm chomping at the bit too . . .  .chomp, chomp . . . .

Re: Keep Your Eyes Open for the arrival of ArtRage 3 - It's a must have

Never mind Nick... it's understandable from your, Ambient and IFX's part. IFX have to do a "Next Month" in advance so things can often not turn actually turn up in the next issue.

I hope you do produce one when the software is released though and it doesn't get forgotten about, or replaced by another Photoshop tutorial. I'll be buying Artrage 3 as soon as it comes out so the article may appear after I have my grubby mits on it, but I'd still like to see what you can do with the app.

I agree, nice image Egghed!  Reminds me of the old book and cartoon series , The Green Forest, with Woody Woodchuck.

I'm still exploring my digital options.  I like Photoshop, but I've been casting about for a painting program that would suit my oil painting background.  ArtRage is looking pretty sweet. I'll keep my eyes on this thread for updates!  Thanks Nickillus!

Thanks both. :) It is part of a spare time project which affectionately looks back at the kind of stuff I remember liking as a kid. Half of it is fluffy, the other half has teeth. I always loved the half with teeth more!

I can't recommend ArtRage enough and especially for the price, it is worth buying to play with just while you decide. I have Painter 11 too and like it very much, but I currently use AR more.

I don't know what is coming in AR3 but I'm willing to bet they'll be adding some of the stuff users have been asking for - different shaped brushes, better transforms, colour correction and better performance at print resolutions are the main things I'm hoping for(ie, A3, 5000px). I understand there is a watercolour engine coming too so yipedee do.

    Cheers
