From Anime shows, I must say Cowboy Bebop; I truly enjoy the themes and story, as well as the art and music combined.

From movies, I enjoy the classics such as Akira and Ghost in the Shell. Others I must say are Jin-Roh, Studio Ghibli films, SteamBoy, Appleseed and many more. :]

Several replies reviews Ninja Scroll; I personally can't imagine myself to ever watch that movie again, mainly because I remember watching it when I was ...hmmm, 10 or younger. I must say that it was rather too vulgar for my young eyes back then; so whenever I think about it now, all I remember is raping, killing, raping, demons, killing, etc. XDDD

I love the series by Yoshitoshi Abe --- they're the only 3 box sets i've got Serial Experiments Lain, Haibane Renmai and Texhnolyze. I think they're all by him and I love them all for different reasons, and it's all the anime I need really.

I agree with everyone on Ghibli, we all love it; it's amazing and inspiring... almost perfect, but i'll mention it anyway.

Akira was the first (adult) anime I saw when I was 12 and I was hooked for a long time!! Though I am more into the artwork now rather than the movies. 

Also Ghost in the Shell is pretty much my favourite film ever :) 

Oh and one more.. Paprika.. amazing.

nah i dont eat any of them...im a veggie....but when i did eat meat id always have 2...maybe that makes up for how many animes ive only seen bits of....ive got loads of dvds ive never seen or only seen bits....

although ive not seen em (surprisingly) i think haibane and teknolyse look awesome too...maybe ill watch em in the future...

what did people think of the animatrix?....i thought it sucked on first viewing but kinda digged it on 2nd+3rd...XD...

I liked it, although my favourite episode of it is the one most people appear to hate - Beyond. It's the one I tend to watch more than the others. Animatrix at least made up for the load of garbage they served up for the two live action sequels.

My first anime was the orignal Dragonball back in 5th grade.

My first step into true "adult" anime was Akira, Armitage III: Poly Matrix and Vampire Hunter D way back when Sci-Fi Channel had its "Saturday Morning Anime" at, like, 5-6am (about 7th grade).

Recently I did re-watch Akira and I did still enjoy it... its a show you should watch periodically I think.

as for favourites, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, BECK Mongolian Chop Squad, the new Hellsing Ultimate series, Armitage III, Nerima Daikon Brothers, Ghost Stories (hysterical English dub) are among but a few I enjoy :)

I used to watch dragon ball z and full metal alchemist. God I loved FMA ending sucked as well as the fact that my family would make fun of me for watching cartoons. Honestly if they sat and watched FMA they would not think it's for kids.

I think my first ever anime was something like,transformers the cartoon, if that counts (at least the people in it seem to be anime style).

Another of my first anime's was astro boy, when i was around 11 or 12,and then a few years later my dad brought home a copy of spirited away from blockbuster or something and I really got attahed to that film, amazing animation,amazing ornate storyline, great characters, a bit of mystery and there you go-masterpiece!

I watched princess mononoke,howls moving castle,and a few other anime's after that and even spread anime to the world! well at least a couple of friends...

on holiday once i started watching Naruto strangely, and today I am still attached to studio ghibli anime, which isnt really much of a variety I know but i love it!....

Recently watched an anime called "the girl who leapt through time", which is a very colourful bright anime which in some parts reminds me of donnie darko.

Yep so there you have it, my brief history of anime,

also like battle of the planets and akira, just because they were the first ones I saw so many years ago

ghost in the shell for the story as much as anything, bloody fantastic.

dont like much of todays stuff to be honest, alot of it seems very commercial and prescriptive.  though I saw a couple of episodes of a newish one about a pair of kids who flew missions in a wierd flying contraption like a plane with no wings... very retro, napoleonic style soldiers with laser carbines.... dont know what it was called, but it was shaping up to be pretty good from what I saw, will have o find out what it was and watch some more.

Leo Dicaprio is supposed to star in Akira. REALLY??

The move was supposed to be in preproduction back in 1996, but it never reached anything. Apparently Dicapiro loved the animation so much that he is pushing it to be made.
