That TOM has a lot to answer for here.

It was his link that got me going down this lane...now i'm feeling grey before my time.  Sad

    edart:

1 format card as fat or fat32

2 use flashme to change firmware of DS

3 dildi patch colours using the corect patch for your cartridge

4 place colours in root directory

The above works fine for my games and music cart.

Is it just colours that wont work?

Okay edart lets work through this list of yours...

    1yep its FAT.

2 dont know what you mean by this.

3 a good possibilty that i may have used wrong patch on the _DS_MENU files . Coz when i open the micro SD the files all show up as DS logos except this one. the menu file is just a DAT file signified by  one of those windows file icons. Actually i dont think that the patch is for this file.

4 ok i do place colors fil in root, but it has been mentioned to place into folder and name it programs. but as deduced i dont think the failings lie with the colors file.

I only want it for colors at the moment  im not into anything else on this. Thanks Edart and Gix for your patience and help and understanding and sharing my frustration. And thanks Kazy for popping by just then getting carried away with all the hype with us.

I have tried all told 15 times now, do you think if i tried it one more time standing on one leg it may work?

I really don't think you should have to patch anything with your card.
    Which Kernel did you download?

I have phidas, and I'm not really that big of fan... It has a lot more flexibility than Colors, but It seems slow to me.
If you want, I can send you the file.

EDIT: Went looking for Tassu's site, and it's down... Too bad, if it's gone for good, he had a lot of good programs there.

hey guys exciting news for you.ive been playing around with the DS files.

When i switch on now that sad red folder has now gone and been replaced by a smiling one with a musical note next to his face..

the screen then goes into a stripey purple and black wallpaper with nice blue circles of varying shades flashing in the bottom left corner of the screen. This goes on and on

    and on and on...

..its been going on for nearly and hour now...

    .pressing buttons has no effect.

But i really feel like Im motoring now. Smile

Sad Am i the only person here who gets into such a muddle that  i could knot water?

okay am gonna delete all relevant files and reinstate everthing as it was before i started tinkering.

Im gonna leave this posting and when i return you all gotta pretend youve never seen me before.

One thing on my "to redo" list is that  im gonna check that it was in fact my DS that i was playing about with and not my PSP.

Its not going onto my broken toys pile yet, Im not beat, i'll be back!!

    I cant Sad

Sometimes when the sunlight catches the Nintendos casing..... for a fleeting moment it looks like the Clintiq 12.....and i think of you. Sad

its best i pack it away in a box under the bed and try to forget about it.
