PNG is meant to be better quality than JPEG as it doesn't try and compress the image, basically it is just me using the Mac's screenshot facility. Shift + apple + 4.

Every time I saved for the web using PS's own function it seems to wash out the colours.

I didn't know that shortcut. I usually just open up the grab utility. I tried it though and not sure if anything happened. Did the ShiftApple4 and my arrow turned into a small target. Clicked on the screen and I don't think anything happened.

hmm....he tends to do that. you get him in his wheel, you lock the cage and then just let him run. course if you forget to unlock the cage then he just keeps running....which....I....never....do......errrr......*goes to unlock the cage*

It's worked for me in the past. I believe it goes straight to the desktop. That's how I remember it anyway.  Can't you also paste it into Photoshop? Hmmm.... It has, however, been a loooooong time since I've used it. I think Martin would be a more accurate authority in this matter!

Ok, ya dipso, once your cursor/pointer becomes a target, click and drag it over desired area and release, should automatically save to desktop. If required drag into PS.

hey it worked. woo hoo!

I usually just go into the utilities area and use the "Grab" application. it allows you to choose the screen, a window, or a selection. Even has a timed function.

ill throw my 2 cents here.  martin cleared up the screen capture trouble you were having.  but there is another shortcut...

shift + apple + 3  will capture your entire screen if you want.   no clicking or dragging needed.  just a snapshot of your whole screen, goes straight to the desktop also.

hmmm just tried it & it doesn't work for me? i tried then alt, ctrl but nothing did anything, well my icon changed to a hand icon while i was pressing?
