gotta wonder if Apple will ever really create a tablet computer. and if they do, will it really be worth all the hype?

Perhaps but I'd strongly doubt it.

it will cater to what .2.5% demographic. And since apple is the new microsoft...they only have long term $$ in their eyes :)

What would be nice is if somebody like wacom made a tablet PC; a self contained cintiq as it were. Although I shudder to think what the price tag would be.

    Re: Apple iPad

I'd just be happy with something around the dimensions of an A4 sketchbook, with a decent stylus and reasonable pressure-sensitivity (512 levels would do, something like the Wacom Bamboo). Then give it the ability to run Artrage or Sketchbook Pro, and I'm sold!

    (203.2mm x 127mm)
    Physical Size 14.3" x 10.0" x 0.6"
    (363mm x 253mm x 15 mm)

Too big to be a phone = rubbish.

No point browsing internet because no Flash player included = rubbish.

    Can't multi-task = rubbish.

Can't use a book reader because it has a glossy reflective screen = rubbish.

What exactly was the point of making it?Tongue Tied

My guess would be they just wanted something bigger to touch?  I can't see getting one when I have an iPod touch already at least the touch fits in my pocket when I want to take music with me somewhere.

looks like they just introduced a form of multi-tasking on the iPhone. wonder if that'll get pulled over to the Touch and the Pad.

    Re: Apple iPad

I have great faith and lots of hope for ipad. I think ipad will have a great impact on how we read books and printed media, just like how ipod changed the music from CDs to MP3.

    Re: Apple iPad

looks like Marvel's trying to have the iPad make a pivotal turn for digital comics as well, though we'll see how that turns out. honestly, I'd probably read more comics if I could get them for $1 a piece as a download.

I'd still buy my main titles printed as I like the printed copy, but I'd still read some stuff I might not normally if I could read it that way.

    Re: Apple iPad

If this trend really picks up, I'm sure they will make the printed copies available at request. This way they don't have to print anything on paper and really reduces cost.

But for independent artist, this is a great way to bypass the publisher and retain the intellectual property for themselves. Though I'm sure big publishers' advertising dollars will still be required for anything to become massively popular.
