yeah was thinking of suggesting a background, maybe neon signs but not sure. I hve a rough mock up layer with them placed, ill prob try it and post it here...Reflection in shades etc could be nice even if the source is off the picture...

added a red light, had done a background but found it very distracting and settled in the end to breaking up the background with a red light also. Darkened whole thing with a multiply of a duplicate layer.

and by the by, fabled...u an old rpger or still play? Im still squeezing in the odd session of various games mainly Call of Cthulhu and Shadowrun at the moment. My home is full of games and comics and stuff. My gf doesnt know what to make of my geeky sanctuary in my office here! :)

    Re: DoctorDark Sketchwork

haha. I was kind of a rookie RPGer. I played a bit of Shadowrun with a few guys but that group disbanded fairly quickly. I also played some D&D but since it was just me and one other guy who played, it was a little dry at the time. still fun, but dry. my favourite was 7th Sea. I picked up a couple of the RPG books but I could never find anyone to play so they're just reference material now. Stick out tongue

you did a good job with that elf. the gun and his hand were done excellently and the head is proportional with the rest of the body. also i like simply it because its an elf with a gun.

    Re: DoctorDark Sketchwork

well, i guess i might be more hardcore Rpger...Ive got about 100 rpgs sitting here on my shelves, mixed in with reference books and portfolio books. This is on top of the large collection of MAGIC cards, Boardgames etc D&D can be fun but i always loved Cthulhu, a horror game based on the writings of lovecraft. 7th Sea is a great wee game though, great world and the different sword styles and physical looks. I was actually doing some sketches based in the setting the other eve... :)

and, yes... Elves with guns are cool! :) I always loved the whole Shadowrun mix of fantasy/sci fi but hated old rules a little. New edition is far nicer. :) Ill prob be doing a few more RPG based pieces as the whole RPG thing was major idea source for imagery down through the years...

haha. well I was really big into Decipher's series of Star Wars collector card game. loved it. then everything went downhill once Wizards of the Coast got the rights to produce a card game and Decipher was canned. D's game was so much better.

    Re: DoctorDark Sketchwork

i hear you...The whole CCG thing got very swamped very quickly. And unfortunately some games never got the support they were due. I still rank Magic as a great game though, and i loved VAMPIRE Card game and Netrunner and Battletech games. Netrunner in particular got a bad deal cos it really was only a 2 player game, cyperpunk style, one player playing the hacker trying to crack the other players Security. played great from the starter, rules werent complicated by timing Bulls@@@,  Loved it but it only got one expansion.

Never played Star Wars. heard it was good but that the rarity levels were nt well balanced in initial run. (getting cards like Darth Vader etc was a really tough thing?)

The whole gaming thing completely feeds my mind art wise, and i often come to sessions with full character drawings for NPCs etc...Less gaming these days...work, love etc...besides my Warcraft addiction...

by the by, check your site there Fabled. Saw the wedding photos too, :) A cowboy wedding! Thats pretty cool to a plain old Irish Man here! :)

Was chatting to my firend yesterday. Hes currently posting a blog based on notes of an old Call of Cthulhu Campaign we played, THE MASKS OF NYARLEHETEP. It was a fantastic campaign and its great to be reminded of it after several years. Anyway, I did 2 concept sketches based on a segment from the Egyptian segment. Without giving too much away, our party were retracing the steps of a previous expedition and had ended up finding a hidden chamber. As we studied a strange mural one of our group went towards a throne...

Moments later, he'll be dead. An Ancient god will take his body and we'll be fleeing through the catacombs for our life... :)

    Re: DoctorDark Sketchwork

....However, One of our group (bows his own head in embarrassment), tried flee the aforementioned catacombs by leaping through a portal. Suffice to say, i ended up in ancient egypt, in a time when the Dark Pharoah God was in power....basically this is me, realizing the situation i was in confronted by Cthulhu God and Creatures. The funny part is...

My character was presumed dead at this point in the campaign. But as the Guys fled, They found a Marking glyph on the wall that didnt match the egyptian stylings elsewhere. Looked distinctly modern....As if my character had back in time left a message...lol , yes a bit unrealistic but was nice touch.

Anyway, just another quick sketch, about 10minutes..
