That dress is looking so beautiful! Loving it, but yet once again, don't just use the same red for all the shades, don't be afraid to add other colors to make it more realistic. You starting so many pieces, why not work on one and finish it?
You just managed to make me feel like a kid who got caught with his hand stuck in a cookie jar......LOL Those are just 2 of my biggest problems - not having the basic knowledge of color AND never finishing anything b/c I get all these ideas, and I just keep jumping from one to another. I know that the best way to learn is to actually FINISH something, but I never have the feeling that something is done, or I start working on a project that exceeds my skills, and in the end makes me feel frustrated...I`m finishing this one, even if it takes me months! And it seems it will... *Wah, I`m just doing my nails and saying stupid things...

i have the exact same problem!! see, i have tried to train my brain from a young age to not get to attached to one sketch, just so that my brain could try to develop a faster way at getting better, you know? keep moving on to something bigger and better. which has worked out very good as far as my sketching goes, but when it comes time to put in the energy to try and finish something to the point where it meets my standards, i just get extremely impatient with it and need to move on. but its something ive been putting alot of time and energy towards fixing lately. i have been trying to do some more detailed painting sketches lately, trying to fill in everything i had originally invisioned in the first place. i think its a bit more time consuming, but also it is much more valuable in the long run. because most people dont care how good you can sketch something, they are really looking for the payoff, the completed painting or illustration that showcases all of your skills combined. and thats what ive been really trying to work towards lately.
I`m signing this one. Still, I don`t think it`s that important to impress someone else with your own work. The feeling once you`re done with something is...I can`t describe it! So, in the long run, I think it`s important to let things and skills grow with time, which is something I`ve forgotten. So, I`ll let my other WIPs rest, and focus on basics, which this latest work of mine is supposed to be. I`ll focus on making it look OK without going for that super-photorealistic look, and just play around. Wonder where it get`s me!
Oh, and btw - Happy Easter! I can`t wait to go back home and continue with my drawings...just can`t quite focus when I`m here (visiting my parents)...too much fuss, people and food!

At home...AT LAST! And the first thing I did after unpacking and all that was opening my Photoshop and continuing to work on the red rose gown...Still a WIP, but I decided to keep this simple, sketchy style. Good thing it`s more about the dress than the actual model (my professor dosen`t mind if the figure is all deformed, it`s the design that matters...Oh, well...!) Now I`m going to catch some Zzzz`s, since my 1YO nephew kept me awake for the past week...

And a doodle I made while going back home...it`s kinda hard to make a decent looking image while driving in a train, so I had to fix it up a bit at home. Good news - finally started to grasp the concept of drawing a nose! *Wah, I`m just doing my nails and saying stupid things...
Hey there. First of all thank you for stopping by my thread. And I would like to say that the dress on the figure is looking great. I think it was Emilia that said try and use different colours to get it to look more realistic.
Try to think of the colour of your lighting and add just a little of that colour on a low opacity. Yellows work really well with red or really light greens. Not too much though. Just my thoughts on this. Keep workin at it. Some good work.
Colors, colors, colors...nervous breakdown! LOL I`ll have a shot with yellow, I`m still banging my head for not figuring it out by myself.
Photoshop free day! Decided to give both of us a day off, and made another sketch. It was supposed to be only a trial for drawing heads in different positions, but I just couldn`t stop, and in the end got the result I actually - LIKE! Whoa! This one is a step closer in mastering that comic art style I admire and wish to learn. No references, meaning horrible anatomy. I know, I know...

Whoops, I knew I forgot something! And the proportions...As a sketch it looks ok, but once I scan it and/or try to paint, I notice all these mistakes! Argh! I`d spank myself if I wasn`t so tired...last one for today. Wanted to make a rough looking chick, ended up with another "blah" piece of work...
