i used myself as a reference for this one (that was a laugh!!!) so the sketch looks like me but the painting is rather more androgenous now, im not sure about wings to be honest, i think i want to hit the challenge without using them?? maybe explore somthing else that is angelic? at the moment its more of an experiment in painter!!

OK I'm in!  A very roughand ready start to set the basic idea.  Something of a counter point to the Urban Demon image I did a while back.  Hope to get this finished!

ok, haven't done much to it so far. just starting blocking out the colours and 'attempted to do the face a few times. still cant get it right. will leave it for a bit then will take another crack at it. still not happy with it at all and may just end up scrapping it. any suggestions for how i may save this image are more than welcome

I have spent all night on my dreamy angelic castle and it looks like its made out of toilet rolls and is generally... well... just crap, and not what is in my head at all.

Any ideas what I have done wrong with it? Pleeeeeease?

I'm not an expert but I think the imaginary castle is good, but it's everything around it that is lacking. I'd recomend overlaying textures and adding other shapes and details to give it a patchwork feel and really bring it all to life.

I think the lines are too crisp and sharp. A strong light source to cast stronger shadows might help. This may stop the towers looking so perfect and ..er toilet roll like. Highlights on the windows might give them depth also.

Starbuck yours looks great, just the perspective on that right hand looks a bit off to me, maybe if it was bigger? I ain't no expert. The metal looks really shiny, great effect.

Spacepenguin, it just looks a bit flat to me, like a model. Maybe if we were looking at the castle from an angle? Good start though.

only a small update from me. still not happy with it at all. may end up scrapping it. just cant seem to get the face right.

just as i was about to continue with this image and because photoshop was taking a lifetime and a half to open. i got a bit distracted and made a plan sketch for an alternative idea. so atleast if i end up scrapping this image i have another one to fall back on. just one of my usual pics.
