    Artist Q&A special...

    Hello,

We're thinking of putting together a special Artist Q&A that's for beginners learning new digital art skills...

Post or ponder your questions here, so we can see the sort of things you want answered in your magazine...

Or, if you're shy, email help@imaginefx.com with your questions.

    Re: Artist Q&A special...

I've always wondered about shadows since artists seem to approach this differently. Some seem to use the same color or even black then adjusting the opacity of the layer. I'm wondering if there is a better way to make it seem more realistic or natural.

How is shadow applied using your favorite application?

Some advice on what to consider when buying hardware maybe? Like tablets... What specs are important and what should they be (minimum) to be of use?
(When I bought mine I went by size and price and ended up with one that I suspect is not entirely great Stick out tongue)

I would love if you guys had a cheat sheet for Photoshop and Painter. Things like adding new layers or increasing or decreasing your brush size.

A cheat sheet of shortcuts that maybe most illustrators use. Also anything they like to do too like setting up specific actions to hot keys.

In some of your tutorials there are 1 or 2 helpful shortcut keys, but if there was a combined resource collection of these it would allow us to practice which ones we could use often.

I'd love some more tutorials on making a digital painting not look like a digital painting. And maybe some more tuts using sketchbook pro 2010.

What is the best way of going about digitally drawing/painting portraits from life?

given that this is an intro to illustration and given that we've had a nice animal anatomy feature for the past 5-6 issues I wouldn't mind a human anatomy feature much like the one in issue one but extended upon. ;)

I'd also like to see a nice colour feature that spanned a few issues as well. : )
