    Painting Smoke with acrylics

    Attachment: painting.jpg

    Hey guys,

I am currently doing an acrylic on canvas painting. But I was curious on how I would go about painting green smoke coming out of an exhaust... I uploaded my painting, I basically want Green paint form the exhausts to go up through the grates. I apologies for the picture quality, I only have my mob Ph cam atm... I'm looking forward to your responses.

Hi chuck. U will have to using swirl brush on dry media, do not use any water for the acrylic and go swirl the brush into the canvas repeatedly with low painting method (in digital u are going to add 10% opacity) and less color mix. The same way for painting sky clouds I guess.

It's hard to tell or explain in words, I hope you'll understand but let's see if I could snapshot my demo in free time.

they using the dry brush technique, load a brush up with paint then wipe most of it off. try test it on something before you go ahead with the painting. Just a heads up it does take some time to build up the paint so just keep adding layer after layer till you happy with it. Good luck
