    Vector files

I've tried to open simple vector files I've created in Deneba Canvas ver 8, Paint Shop Pro Pho X2 and n the free app Inkscape... When I open the vector file in Painter IX.5 it opens as a bitmap...  I've also tried opening the Inkscape & Canvas files in Paint Shop Pro with the same results... I know Painter & PSP can create simple vectors but I would like to get into more complicated/advanced vector graphics...hence the desire to use Inkscape  or Canvas...

Can Painter or Paint Shop Pro open any vector files and as a vector file without converting to a bitmap?

I've been following many of Bert Monroy's excellent tutorials where he creates a complicated vector designs in Illustrator and then opens it in Photoshop for further work on the image....

I do not have the budget to purchase Illustrator and/or Photoshop...

    Cheers

Painter can open Adobe Illustrator files via the Acquire command - File>Acquire>Adobe Illustrator file... There are restrictions and it appears that it has to be, basically, paths or shapes only.

Quote: - "Some Adobe Illustrator file options are not supported by Corel Painter. Patterns, placed images, gradients, masks, and text cannot be interpreted. If the file contains text, you must convert the text to outlines."

Not much good to you I'm afraid if you haven't got AI. Also, copying AI paths and pasting them in Painter produces bitmaps.
