Elizabeth Báthory was a Hungarian countess who has been labeled the "Blood Countess" and could be thought of as a real-life vampire. She killed hundreds of young girls and would bathe in their blood in order to retain her own youth and beauty.

Title:  Defying the Gods

Concept: An individual who achieved immortality through a selfless deed or act of defiance against an unjust force. I went with the second definition provided by sugar in the WIP thread (IMMORTAL: Never to be forgotten; everlasting) rather than with depicting an immortal being.

This one was really challenging (personally from a time perspective and from the subject treatment).  Hats off to Anelim for the excellent topic (you made me stay up late a lot the last few days).  Voting this month is going to be tougher than ever with all the really excellent pieces. I apologize to all  for not participating in the WIP thread more--this was a hectic month for me. Good luck all.

There were so many different ways to go with 'Immortal'.  

My take was to create an 'Immortal Guardian'.  Done in traditional Japanese style.

A watcher, remaining ever vigilant, aware and alert, protecting and serving.

Immortality comes naturally by been a Vampire, but it comes with a price. She still remembers herself beautiful, but the years walking the earth have paid its toll.

My entry for this one: somekind of an ancient mage or a prophet kept alive artificially, there are still lots of followers making pilgrimages to see the monument and the prophet.
So, immortality gained by actions performed in one's lifetime.

In the end, I decided to remove my obvious elements of immortality (fountain, fangs, etc...) They still look pretty immortal to me :)  Immortal love perhaps...

 Are jim's and riox entries disqualified due to lateness? I don't see their names on the list but there is no comment to explain this. I personally would be quite happy for them to be included as I really love Jim's but I understand if not. I shall refrain from voting until I hear for definite. Good job guys (everyone I mean ).
