Some of these sound really interesting, can see that the diablo bar has been a success already!

Heres a suggestion. Ill see if i cant think of anymore

The Post Ice age Nomadic Tribe.

-In 2020 the earth fell into a man made ice-age after the mid Atlantic current stopped bringing warmer waters to the now frozen northern hemisphere. Not many people survived the massive changes and due to political fallout during the event the warmer regions are off limits to any northern person trying to seek a more comfortable clime. This particular tribe are constantly on the move, following seasons across the ice and tundra to keep up with the constantly shifting food supplies. As such they have to carry everything with them. They are also scavengers, using anything they have found in their travels, that was from the world as we know it now.

     Brief

    - Design a typical family of the tribe including a Female, Male and Child member so as to explore what each section of the family brings to the tribe.

    The theme parks new ride

    - A massive theme park has asked there designers to come up with a new ride. A new scientist has recently joined the theme parks engineering team and is looking for something that will not only challenge him, in terms of the logistics of the ride. But will also challenge what a member of the public coming to the theme park expects from a ride as well. The managing directors of the Theme park have specified however that the ride, as experimental as it may be, must include the elements of a roller-coaster. E.g. A cart that follows a predetermined track. Anything on top of that is up to you.

    Brief

    -  Design a ride focussing on what the theme of the ride is, rather than what the ride does. Also make sure to include an idea of how this theme will translate into the park. E.g. A land based around the ride. Including shops, restaurants and food bars. The theme park is not too fussy about how this information is presented, but would ideally like to be able to use the artwork in there promotional materials at a later date.

What if you could have several connected challenges?

     like this:

Title: MYFX Weekly Concept #XXX "Dr. Hawking the Geo Engineer" Character portrait

    Brief:

Your challenge this week is to create a full color portrait of the geo engineer dr Hawking.

After the earth succumbed to every disaster imaginable, he and his team of terra-formers have traveled to one of the other planets in our Solar system to attempt to make it habitable for humanity. The doctor is a brilliant, and driven man. He has seen his beloved home torn to pieces and is on a last desperate mission to save the remnants of humanity. He is a middle aged man with a shorter than awarege stature, but larger than awarge sense of duty. He sleeps little, spending most of his time working on his insurmountable task.

    ...........................................

Title: MYFX Weekly Concept #XXX - Terra former

Your challenge this week is to create a character design of a one of dr. Hawkings team members. you must create turnaround images of front back and side views and an optional 3 1/4 view.

Title: MYFX Weekly Concept #XXX - The Lifebringer

Your challenge this week is to produce a full colour 3 1/4 view of the "Lifebringer" terraforming machine, a background is optional.

    Description:

The lifebringer is an incredibly massive construction capable of bringing life to dead planets (in theory). The brainchild of the brilliant geo-engineer dr. Hawking, it was built in desperation after the earth succumbed to every disaster imaginable and became virtually uninhabitable.

    ...............................................

Title: MYFX Weekly Concept #03 - Engineering paradise.

    Brief:

Your challenge this week is to produce a full colour environment painting of the terraforming of a new homeworld for humanity.

These terraformers are capable of changing the shape of the land itself, and plant continent spanning rainforests (in theory at least). This is the most demanding and desperate effort humanity has ever undertaken.

Re: Weekly concept challenge - theme suggestions

To take a page from Issue 63 where Luke Mancini found inspiration for one of his amazing pieces, how about a song title? I think that is broad enough to give everyone a unique idea, but still tie it all together. Perhaps suggest a style or leave that open as well.

I think Luke's Spider Boat Fisherman Loudspeaker Flash piece is incredible. That song title alone lends enough to be a theme in itself. His vision of it is just wonderful.

Force of Nature - Can be depicted by anything, whether its a sapient being, a creature, an elemental, it doesn't matter. The artist must try to portray its raw power that is both terrifying and beautiful.

Re: Weekly concept challenge - theme suggestions

For the time being I'm going to open up suggestions to allow the inclusion of subject matter previously covered by the defunct Rebels Challenge, e.g. book covers, posters, and so on. The weekly is still predominately a concept challenge, but we will occasionally chuck in something random to relieve the abject terror (or complete disinterest) created by environmental challenges. Hopefully we can have more suggestions from people that aren't mysterious one post wonders.

Re: Weekly concept challenge - theme suggestions

Having been ill lately (head aches, what else) I've been watching a lot of TV... Among other things I've seen part of Spy Kids II... I know it's a kid's movie but I thought all the animals were rather neat, bullfrogs, horseflies and spidermonkeys who were part bull part frog, part horse part fly and so on. It's kinda similar to the recent Mix 'n' Match monster but could be fun to do at a later date. That is, take a word that consists of two different words and make something new out of it, something that the word really could mean... (Doesn't have to be animals, or just animals - a different example could be, if you pardon my swedish, a word like "kontroll" (kon = cone and troll = troll, can you see where I'm going?)

Now what was the other idea I just had... *scratches head*

oh yes, back during the discussions of what could be done - I think it was in the rebels challenges, but it could have been the weeklies - someone gave "redesigning of a cartoon character's outfit" (or something like that) as an example. Stuff like that could be fun too, assuming no superheroes would feel we trespass on their copyrights or anything...

     - God of Traffic lights

    - Goddess patron of business women

    - God of Sewer Pipes

    - Goddess of couches thrown on the roadside

    - The Jinn of whiskey bottles

    - The elves of plastic fig trees in dentist offices

"Alien Equines"- could be green, could be aquatic, could be made of lava...rock....the whole point is they are based on the equine family (horses, donkeys, ponies...) and they are fantastical.

    Challenge Suggestions

First a tiny disclaimer - being relatively new to the challenge arena I'm not entirely sure about what has been done and what hasn't so I may come up with some stuff that's already been done before without knowing it, so here goes -

    -The Nine Tenth's Challenge

Possession being Nine tenth's of the law, design and paint up a motorized vehicle possessed by either a demon, a ghost or a strange alien entity, any kind of vehicle you like so long as it's clear what manner of strange beastie has taken possession of said vehicle.

    -The Boldly Go Challenge

Boldly go where you haven't gone before and do some interior designing for an alien space craft - design and paint up one room on the alien ship Zuron, you could  do a flight deck, a medical bay or detention cells just make it so number one.

    - The Diabolical Villainy Challenge

This is your challenge should you choose to accept it - design and paint up a diabolical villain and his most trusted henchman and/or favorite pet, can be any type of villain - bond villain, comic book villain, or even a mix betwixt the two, or three or four it's entirely up to you Mr. Bond.

    - The Stranger in a Strange Land Challenge

Imagine for a moment that you wake up and find yourself in a bustling city filled with fantastical creatures, people from strange lands and exotic looking stalls and storefronts selling all kinds of mysterious and arcane gear, right, now paint it.

    - The Backwater Rumble Challenge

Start your engines - man-things and women-things of earth, you have been challenged to a race on a backwater alien planet, design and paint the kind of vehicle you'd need to win the race, think about what kind of technology, if any, would be available to you and what kind of terrain your vehicle might encounter, perhaps you're a bit of cheat in which case you should consider what kind of nasty surprises you could invent for your competition, it's only cheating if you get caught - right?

    - The Identity Thief Challenge

Design a creature or a person using technology or magic to alter their appearance to look like somebody else, the object here is not only to create a believable character design but to also imply exactly what the character is capable of doing, how you choose to do so is entirely up to you.
