1st Radish - simply stunning & i guess you put your mind to it Tim! well done!

2nd - Solomon - great idea, love it

    3rd - sinistral - beautiful, just beautiful

these were my standouts but i have to say the quality of all of your entries are so good, and any of them are worthy of the top 3. Well done to you all

Re: My FX weekly Challenge # 148 'Masquerade' - Final Entries

Been mulling this over for while - especially the choice for first and second place.

1 - Radish - Beautifully painted, and it makes me want to know what was wearing the mask

2 - Cano - Funny but creepy..  I love the colours, and the part of the wolf's face that can be seen from behind the mask is really quite scarey!

3 - Dull - Disturbing stuff!  Love the idea, and the style

Great stuff from everyone this week, that was a hard decision!

1 - Cano : *concept love* funny and well painted.

2 - Radish : Superb painting, the vegetation is incredible.

3 - Last minute man. I mean.. Solomon. : props for speed painting, and nice face-off concept. ^_^

    Nice work you lot.

hey thanks poppy. Just wanted to say my intention was to add a reptilian like hand and maybe a shadow of the creature to the image. But you know how it goes never enough time. and yes kaz I did put my mind to it. LOL

Re: My FX weekly Challenge # 148 'Masquerade' - VOTING OPEN!

    *masquerades as a voter*

    1. Radish - amazing work, especially considering the short time we've all had. I do feel it's more "mask" than "masquerade" but that's a wee detail :P

    2. Sinistral - lovely masquerade outfit and I love those firey eyes hiding behind the mask

    3. Poppylocke - like the idea and it's mostly well painted with only a few minor things (the fingers on the hand on the table and personally I'd make the candle somewhat more substantial). And I didn't realise until now, but is that a red riding hood!?

    others:

Cano - great idea and well carried out too. I like the little fleck of blood on the wolf's "shirt"... Bet he's already fooled some other little lambs and the one looking at us suspects it!

Sarah - Nice looking party girl. I think you did especially well on her eyes and the sparkly fabric of her dress

Quetzal - I like this idea, but I liked the darker lines at the back of the heads that you had in your sketch. I also feel that with skull of metal and two faces that seem to be wood and stone, a flesh face seems out of place... I'd have expected yet another "material" or element I think... maybe fire...

Dull - I like the head/face but the rest of this picture mostly reminds me of anatomy studies (nothing wrong with those except they don't much spark my imagination). As a stand alone it lacks context (probably for the lack of background)

Solomon - definately not bad for a last minute thing. I think I'd have liked it better without the "blood rim" - if the face had been more like an actual mask to her skull, and not a piece of flesh cut away. But that's my personal pref :P

    I think that's everyone :)
Wasn't all that easy to decide on the top three (well, maybe the top one...) but as always with these challenges its great fun to see all the different ideas that people come up with :)

Re: My FX weekly Challenge # 148 'Masquerade' - VOTING OPEN!

Really nice entries here this week and after much deliberation:

    1. Radish- Have to agree with Volupsa about the theme- not sure of the reference.  A wonderfully executed and fantastically detailed image however.

    2. Poppylocke-Nice interpretation in a classic mold

    3.Cano- Still makes me smile.

Very dificult to decide especially 2 and 3 but well done everyone.

Re: My FX weekly Challenge # 148 'Masquerade' - VOTING OPEN!

can i just start by saying the work in these challenges just amazes me.

     1.  ,CANO   just the look on the mask of that sheep as if the pennys just droped killed me

2  SINISTRAL  every time i look at this painting i'm drawn to that mask

3  RADISH  there  seems to be so much thought in everything that is painted by radish that makes every piece wonderfullllllllllllllll.

But like sinistral 2nd and 3rd place could have been etherway around.
