to gier more infor regarding the contest
voluspa: The only brief is to make a cover image, no theme or other such info. A template for where text goes and all is included on the DVD but you can see it in clairbears entry image as well, if you wanna start before you get the issue. It's not too different from the Xmas one, except there's more are covered by text...
Contest entries need to be in by Jan 10th and you can win, besides cover spot, a wacom cintiq and a year's subscription. I wish I stood a chance :P
theres this info on the DVD also pretty standerd stuff but it might come in useful :D
Dear ImagineFX artists
Points to consider for cover images:
• Template is RGB at 72 dpi. The final image should be RGB at 300dpi.
• Conversion to CMYK should be considered but NOT applied to the final image.
• PSD files are preferable.
• Bleed is 5mm around all edges. Bleed is to allow for minor adjustments in composition and compensates for trim.
• The top area of the magazine is the most visible on the newsstand – this is where the focus of the image should be.
• Images can interact with the ImagineFX logotype – but should not cover most of the logo.
• High contrast images help focus the viewers eye.
• Lighter images are preferable.
• Signature colour on template is placeholder ONLY.
A few more pointers: When choosing a topic to paint, remember that we are a fantasy and sci-fi magazine and the subject of your image should reflect that. Also, your image needs to stand out on the newsstand, so consider your colour palette, where your focal points of your image are, and how they might interact with text on the cover. Oh, and no nudity please... other than that, have fun and good luck!
so year thats the info on the dvd hope it helps :)
