    Re: The Sacrifice

Two things. She seems like she is made of plastic to me. And her shadows are very muddy (yes I know she's standing in muddy waters (and no I not talking about the blues musician)), but you should still apply higher contrast in the dark shadows. The shadows now, are to uniform from the mid shadow to the darkest.

I like the surroundings and the larvas. And the rubber duck is a nice little touch:)

    Re: The Sacrifice

Already much better. I agree with Geir. The shadows still need a little more work.

You must have faith in yourself when no one else will....like now for example.

    Re: The Sacrifice

This is such a strange image to behold.

The girl is very cute and the bugs are quite gross.

Only thing I can think of, is that she could use some rim lighting around her hips and chin. Maybe pushing the saturation of tone on the girl's figure might make her look less muddy (as Gier says).

    Nice work :)

    Re: The Sacrifice

I think the same like Geir, that the skin of the girl looks like this Barbie puppets. But human skin has a other structur. For me the skin highlights

are to white an to hard. I think that the skin must more be worked like this machine metals (the highlights)! The navel needs more a dark, more akcent. Well, to touch this girl must give every men the feeling like touch the rubber duck

in her hand. But it is a very good painting, Yian, that it is!  The muddy water is the best part in this painting (after the number...)  - jo-jo!

    Re: The Sacrifice

I haven't seen this one for a few iterations and I almost fell out of my chair it is looking so good now! The slime running down her skin is an especially nice touch. And the background is outstanding work! That was exactly what I thought you should've done with the Oracle mark ii. Man, I knew you could paint like that if you tried. Keep it up...

What is the significance of 186? I demand to know (unless it's something I would rather not know Stick out tongue).

186 is probably the underwear inspector. Yian, are you 186?

solomon01 is easily as wise as his namesake... Is there any chance that Yian could post the WIP on page two as well so we don't have to keep scrolling back to page one?

    Re: The Sacrifice

Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. To elaborate on 186, it does mean something, but it is silly and trust me it would only waste your time.

I will post an update soon, but more problems have surfaced since the last time I posted it. Particularly, her anatomy and the treatment of the muddy substance need a lot more work. Someone has pointed out that the mud looks confusing because it looks "too sketchy" and not polished enough, and her body still looks too flat.

Another person also complained that the pubic area was not as well painted as the rest of the image. So that needs to be fixed, too. Lots to do.

In the future I will only post things in WIP section, as I have realized that nothing is really finished for me.

    Re: The Sacrifice

Did I mention that you somehow make your pixels look like pigment? No idea how you do that but at least I can recognize the skills. Don't know how many times I've heard to never use pure white for highlights but Yian got away with it here. Mostly. You might want to reconsider dialing that back on the beasties, definitely the ones in the background

Otherwise you have plenty of win. To be really picky, the screen left beastie is slightly too bright but otherwise the whole thing is solid. Also, I applaud your decision to keep 186 a secret. If you did 888 or 38 or even 49 then I would know what you meant but some jokes lose meaning in the translation. And inside jokes are often the best...

There is no problem in using 100% white in highlights. But people often use it on to big an area. It should be use only on the absolute lightest of the highlights. This is another reason (sorry I didn't mention that before) that it seems a bit like plastic to me. He has used to much "absolute whit" (brackets course it could be 95 or 99 % white).

Before you start lighting a picture (goes for both B&W and color), you should try to determine were you find the absolute darkest part and the absolute whitest parts of you image. This is a rule that at least have helped me, and that I always learn my students. These (in digipainting) are the places you can use 100% black or white.
