Have you ever tried to paint from a silhouette? I find I paint much better now that I use this method. I block in the shapes of every thing first then lower the layers opacity and go another round of blocking out until I carve out what I'm drawing. It seems to work better for me anyway you might give it a try. Also working in grey scale first and getting the values right before adding color really helps. It's going to take time too I'd say you should be willing to put 15 to 20 hours into a painting when you're starting out. If you put the time in it will look good.

I'm not sure what I'll do, I'll have to look at the different types of skeletons that are out there, I'll also have a look at the books I already have again and try learning off them. 

Just to report I've already seen an improvement when I'm using skeletons, I'm pissing about with proportions a lot less than I used to with just the outline.

 

I think I've found the exact kind of stuff I need to study now, I'll see about posting up some new artwork sometime this week because my parents are out so I'll be able to work whenever I like :D

I think it's finally clicked what I've been doing wrong, it wasn't that I hadn't learned the anatomy or anything, it was much more basic than that I wasn't drawing the muscle shape enough so everything ended up looking awfully flat, now it's just a matter of spending time on it to make it all correct.

I purchased Riven Phoenix instructional videos a while back and just want to say they helped me immensely with anatomy.  And yeah, anatomy is and always will be a pain in the ass!!

okay folks this is what I have so far of the semi-final that I'm working on, I'm going to be doing a re-work of the legs etc. and the head because the ones I sketched out weren't terribly good but I've gone sillouhette style and drawn a skeleton, then linart ontop of that and then I have the final bit you see here.

Crit wanted as always! :p

Quick update

Welcome back Lethn.

This drawing looks like one of those old drawings you did in the past. Nothing has improved in any visible way. The hands look semi-okay but no where close to good. The arms' anatomy are very off, the skirt is very crudely drawn, the cloth has no structure or volume. Nothing here makes any sense.

You mentioned that you are trying something different? What is it?

I am open to do a step -by-step tutorial on drawing certain things, if you think it will help. What do you want me to draw? I will get back to you tomorrow after I am done for the day.)

I think I'm actually going twitch angry right now as I have *** all idea of what I'm doing wrong, let me get a sketch of some anatomy up for you because either I'm bloody drawing it wrong or something else is happening and it's pissing me off. 

It's very easy, actually. Put everything you have done so far right next to the professional artworks, and see the difference. Since you like anime, pick a few professional anime images next to your drawing and see exactly what they are doing that you are not.

And like i said, tell me what you want to learn to draw, and I will do my best coming up with a tutorial.

Lethn, it looks to me like your learning to draw anatomy on a tablet?  Just my opinion, but I think it would be best to learn the core parts of anatomy with pencil and paper.  For me at least I can sketch a figure of a much higher quality on paper then a tablet.
