    Re: Draemar's Art Maze

much better Draemer. now that you've moved the character back a bit it's a lot more understandable. rest of the image is coming along nicely as well.

Yeah fabled, and the image sort of gained a bit more of depth with the character more to the left!

Thanks for going through with me on this! Big Smile

looking good Draemer but that one tree in the middle doesn't mesh right with the backgrounds. it's just kind of pasted in by the looks of it.

    Re: Draemar's Art Maze

Yeah, I'm currently working on that, adding that grass in front of it already made a good result, now I'll have to see about behind it! Maybe some tonal adjustments eh?

    Re: Draemar's Art Maze

For your latest one (the green foresty piece) I'd say you need to de-saturate it a little. It's looking very green and I don't think I've noticed then in the woods near my home. :P
Your beatie piece is looking very good so far, but the colours are very similar. I'd also be somewhat tempted to show more of a back to the creature, continuing from the back of the head. It's got to be bulky to carry the weight of that jaw.. maybe?

Good luck, it's looking great. :)

    Re: Draemar's Art Maze

Yeah Elz, I am going to work on that further on, thing is, the neck of the creature is to  be vanishing through the smoke. I really have to  improve that thing!

As to color, it will be having other color on it, but I'll apply it later on. Maybe not  the best way to work on the piece, but as I've got this far...

As to the forest, guess I'll be taking some green of it also! Many people have already told me about that! So I sure gonna make it happen!

Thanks a great lot for passing by and for the helpful insight on me works!

    Sheers and be well! Wink

    Re: Draemar's Art Maze

some great works started in here man. please excuse my inherent american ignorance, but i was having a discussion with someone not too long ago who was in boston about portugal. he said he was from portugal, but was speaking to me in spanish, because his english wasnt so good, and i can understand spanish a bit. it was confusing though because i had assumed that in portugal the native language was portuguese, isnt it? or is it both spanish and portuguese? although the only portuguese i know is 'obrigado'.

sorry about that, now on to your work....i really like your creature staring down the man with the amulet. its looking very cool so far. the addition of the smoke was great and gave it alot more life. the trader is also great, although i think he needs something behind him, even if its just a very abstract color splash, i think it would lend to the overall image balance some more. the forest one i absolutely love. really cool looking so far! i swear that painting forests is still to this day the most daunting challenge for me to try to paint. so much to paint, trunks, branches, leaves, creatures, not to mention the light filtering through all of these elements. its just a headache trying to conceive how to go about it, so my hats off to you. i think the colors work really well, seeing as its obviously some sort of enchanted or mystical forest. (the glowing tree trunk was a dead giveaway) so i think that you were on the right track with the nice saturated colors, it gives it a surreal dreamlike quality i think. was this how you had envisioned it in the first place? if so, i think you should leave the colors saturated. in all, i would say youve got alot of talent showcased here and to just stick with your initial gut feeling on each of these pieces, and just go with it. most importantly have fun doing it.

    Re: Draemar's Art Maze

Hi there Nickybeats! First of all, "obrigado" for passing by!

Yeah portuguese  is indeed the native/oficial language here in Portugal, and we don't use any other language! There are still a very few small towns that lay so close to the borders that spanish is mostly used by them! There are also small regions were you would find a kind of a merge between spanish and portuguese, that dialect is called "Mirandês"

Still, 99.9% of us in here talk 100% portuguese.

Hope I've enlightened you some things as to my little country, and sure feels great to see your curiosity about it!

As to the paintings, thanks a lot for the confident words. I appreciate it a lot when someone shows such recognition as to my efforts in digital painting, although there's still, and always, much to learn!

Relatively to the trader, you're right and I am going to add a background to it, maybe with some rare artifacts of some kind of glitter from precious stones and even some smaller guys that work for him, or slaves.

As to the forest, indeed it became aaaalmost what I initially wanted. There are many things that still run out of control and I'm not entirely happy with it, for now me thinks! The color saturation has been quite a debate, but also, when seeing it in your monitor it might look differ quite a bit as to others' screens! That might be a bit of the issue between me and other people advising me to reduce the thing!

This sure is a passion that won't never run out of me, and the fun, pleasure and dream of going pro is what's pulling me for now!
And Thanks a great of a lot for your feedback Nickybeats man!

    Be well! Wink

    Re: Draemar's Art Maze

oh thank you for clearing that little thing up for me. it was pretty confusing, im still not sure if he was actually portuguese or not. oh well.

i think thats a great idea for the bg of the trader piece, i instantly saw what you were thinking of doing and it will help alot i think! as for the last post, i think the guy could use some hair maybe, or maybe something covering his dome. is he like some kind of apprentice or magician? maybe give him a weird eccentric looking hat like most magicians. not that pointy witch hat, but something odd and cool at the same time. or like you said some crazy haircut that noones thought of. like a sideways mohawk, or rows of them all the way back. or something equally as wild. i hear what your saying about chasing the dream! and i know i dont have to tell you to keep at it!!

    Re: Draemar's Art Maze

    Hey ya Nicky,

Yeah, some portuguese have quite the grasp for spanish language due to the proximity of the two countries and many of us spend vacations there, although, spanish people don't seem to get a word we speak in portuguese!

As to the guy's head, well, maybe some kind of light elm, alike a tiara but "manly", I hope! The character is supposed to be some kind of druid, that's why I preferred not to put an armor on him! And as I continue to work on this It gets the feeling that he  is really controlling the creature, rather than battling it! Maybe an ice elm that could give him the power to withstand extremely high temperatures!

And the dream lives on! Be well friend!
