Nice stuff, I really like your approach on studying Apocalypse. I saved it on my computer :)

Your pen tips were cool too. I never thought of drawing slow strokes...I always do fast strokes, which results in my preliminary work looking too messy for me to figure out. I'm going to try it after I write this!

And about the comment thing, I admit I usually just gawk in awe at other people's sketchbooks, but not post...I end up being a bit numb on thinking up what to say. This post alone probably took me ten mintues to think of what to write! But anyway, like your work, keep it up.

    Ditto Yes

And this latest piece of yours...OMG...Indifferent...so awesome! Man, you have some crazy strokes going on there. I love them! And the ideas, and inking, and...oh dear, OVERDOSE! Must....turn off....the...MONITOR....

*Wah, I`m just doing my nails and saying stupid things...

thank you chrispac, and pxelslayer for the kind comments!! thanks for taking the time to write a reply at all, im always very appreciative when i see one. so even if you just write something like " not bad." and thats all, id still feel priveledged. so thanks.

also chrispac, the thing about doing slow pen lines is i think it can acheive a very vibrant effect that stands out more than pencils, but unless you think ahead of what it is you want to have on the paper ahead of time, you will be furiously masking it in white out. dont let that fool you though, the final product is usually much better looking, it just can sometimes strain my mind with all of the foresight involved in the process. but definitely give it a shot, it can be fun as hell!!!

thanks again both of you, especially pxelslayer for the continued support! you da man!

im entered into one those contests on this site, the "life aquatic" one. and its due on thurs. i think, so ive got a few W.I.P.'s that i can throw up in here. also i was working on another digital painting tonight, but at this point its more like a half finished greytone sketch. but i guess its done enough for you to get the gist of what it might look like after i sprinkle some more magic dust on it. hopefully ill push through this one, because i think it could have alot of potential if i dont botch the thing.

oh also, if the life aquatic ones look kind of confusing, its a painting thats both above the water and below it, and im gonna keep adding things to both sides of the sea until its due, i still dont really know exactly what, but i think it could look cool in the end. thanks for checking them out....

did this collaboration with Valtteri. his pencils, my colors. started and finished this morning, probably the fastest painting ive ever done, and one of my favorites too. that kid is sick at drawing, i love his characters.

Re: NickyBeats- New and Old Sketches

ok, now im starting to scare myself. the night is young, and im still in a good drawing mood/mode. its not very often that i go on a tear like this, so when you are feelin it ----> DONT STOP! i got a very heavy stack of inspiration on my brain, and its forcing my hand. been in a big digital mode all day, and it aint stopping soon. hmmm. . .i just had a thought, i think there should be a thread started where people can share pictures by artists that inspire them. is there such a thing already? because today alone, i think ive overloaded my computer with images ive downloaded by other artists, for my own inspiration. there are so many cats on Deviant Art that just blow my mind. its mind boggling, i mean talk about skill, these guys do 'speed paints' in one hour that would take me a week to complete, and they still crap all over them, but i guess even when your a modern day master, you still have to be very judgemental of your own style or else you will never progress.

wow, i just looked up and realized i was about to write a novel. just sooo many things on the brain at the moment. i guess ill just show you all later when i get to making them. aaaaaaaanyways......sorry for that mind dhiarreah. heres my latest thing, its a new style of painting for me, and ive always admired those who could pull it off realisticly (sp?) instead of using line work, ive been just building these up from the shapes and sillhouettes, and gradually adding light to them. its like painting with the light, and not relying on lines as a guide. this isnt anywhere near completion, but the process is very tedious, so itll have to do for now.

Re: NickyBeats- New and Old Sketches

if anyone wants to see some of the greatest manga work ever created by man, than please check out this artist named Kim Hyung-Tae !!!! hes a korean manga artist and hes insanely good. his line work is probably the most refreshingly dynamic ive seen, and his coloring at least rivals his line work, if not surpasses it. just unbeleivable, ive been browsing his website all day long and i could still look at it well into next week.

sooo, after all of that browsing i was inspired a bit, and picked up the old pencil! i swear i havent done any pencil work in a loooong time. i forgot how messy your hand gets afterward. oh well i think it was worth it, im definately gonna try to color this soon, so be on the lookout!

Re: NickyBeats- New and Old Sketches

i need to work on my anatomy alot. especially female anatomy i realised. the soft curves, as well as the hips always seem to give me the most trouble. so i tried some sketching today, i dont think it worked. . .

Re: NickyBeats- New and Old Sketches

oh man, i am really excited!! ive been trying to get the hang of markers for a while now, and i think im definitely getting a better feel for them. i just finished up a marker job on this sketch i had in my sketch book for a few days now, and i gotta say im very pleased with the results! i was starting to get a better feel for the grey tone markers, but this was a colored sketch, and i think i pulled it off, at least for what i wanted. i also threw some white out on it to, in order to give it a shiny feel to it. and those two things together made it really pop off of the page. so once its dry, ill be able to scan it in and put it in here for your viewing pleasure.

Re: NickyBeats- New and Old Sketches

Really nice Nicky. If you hadn't said I would never have pegged that colouring as marker. How on earth did you get that level of blending with marker pens? Are you using marker paper of just a regular sketchbook?

Re: NickyBeats- New and Old Sketches

this was done on a regular old mead sketchbook, with pen for the outline, and prisma color markers. and a touch of white out. the trick to blending these markers (which i can honestly say that i just learned this, after having these damn markers for a century..) is to move very fast when you are blending, and to strictly use the large flat side of the marker. you gotta start with the lightest value, then try to build up the tones fairly quickly, (while the paper is still wet from the previous marker layer) this allows for a much easier gradient in the colors. thanks for looking, and i hope that explained it okay.
