Re: NINTENDO DS and COLORS any tips?

I'm still waiting for the stuff to arrive.

Everyday i get up and think todays the day, but nothing has turned up yet.

    Grrrrrrr

I actually took my DS out with me yesterday and on the pictochat page you can mess about with the stylus and draw on a teeny portion of the screen with two different thicknesses  and then eraser with two differenting variations, all in glorious black n white. Cant wait to dabble on the Ds in colour.

Soon it must be arriving soon!

    I'm thinking todays the day.

You open these boxes and this is what you find. So far so good.

Okay it all seem so easy peesy.Big Smile
I got the eagerly awaited packages as shown.
i opened the boxes and i put the microSD into the USB reader.
Connected it all up to my PC via the USB port.
    I downloaded the files
Copied all the relevant files in their entirety onto the micro card.
This just didn't work - so i deleted the whole lot and downloaded the operating system for R4 again.
All i did after that was copy the two files DS_MENU.DAT and  _DS_MSHL.NDS. directly on the micro SD
After that i take the microSD and pop it into the Micro SD adapter.
I stick that into my DS and switch on
. You should see the R4 menu with 3 selection on your touchpad (Games, Multimedia, Slot-2 or derivates).but i dont, all i get is a red menu diagram with a pathetic looking sad face on it.
I then went back into the microSD and pasted the Colors.nds file in there too but when i got back to the DS still no joy.
I pasted the colors.nds right next to the other two files, is this correct?
Further more i find that the micro SD adapter is a bit too big or wrongly made as it doesn't pop out like a games cartridge does, i have to use my key to prise it out.
SO where am i going wrong? Did you have similar set up problems?

Re: NINTENDO DS and COLORS any tips?

I have just tried downloading the DLDI file to patch the colors nsd files.
This patching was done before i pasted it back onto the micro SD. Yet its still no go.
The only think i can think is that it should be in the root folder, what exactly do they mean by this?
i have posted it directly onto the card. there is no other files, folder or directories on there apart form the three files i have mentioned in the above postings.
All i can get after all this much work is the nintendo start up screen and then it goes into the grey screen with the red folder and the words "menu?"
    Somebody? anybody? HELP!!

Alright, I haven't used your card yet, but let me see if I can help.

First, do you have a operating system already on the card?  It should load up on the card for you without having any games or programs?  Also let me know the card name that you ended up buying, please

Re: NINTENDO DS and COLORS any tips?

Actually, I did some looking around for you.
First, if you haven't already, stop by the DSTT website.  You will need to download the kernel which acts as the Card's Operating system.  You can get that here. Just download the most recent one.
I think your card has automatic DLDI patching so I don't think you have to worry about that one.

As for colors itself.  First, try putting just the .nds file on the root directory (main floor) of your flash card.  if that works, call it a day.  Or if you want to play around a bit, create a folder called programs on your flash card and past the .nds file there.

    I hope that helps.
