mjasnowski - I love colors and water drops on your flower
radu-jm - great study of faces
charco - who is that man on your picture? I like colors and mood
rcallicotte - thanks for advice. I know contrast is my Achilles heel. When I look at my thumbnails all my sketches seem to be very dull. Only the last one is better. I hope it is next breakthrough in my learning process.

    43/43 and 44/44

Thanks to all for the kind words about my last post!

@Charco, I dig your Adama painting, it's one of my favorite sci-fi characters.

I was out of town this weekend, so I have to settle for a WIP on 043.  Hopefully I'll complete it tomorrow.

kitfitso Great job you have been doing on the masters style work.

Chris-tian   Cute job on the creature.  Very neat effect on the clouds.   Very appropiate bunny picture for Easter.

zei  Very cool job on sketching your fellow student.

    oaktree  Awesome clouds.

    rcallicotte  Love the hair.

ps   It is a Nintendo DSi game system.  Comes with a drawing and animation program in the flip book mode.   The girls got me one of the new larger screen versions.  I can see it a lot better.

    cano great beginning on Athlena.

charco  great job on the world and person sketch.

radu    You have a great technique for people.

oaodh  I like how you handled the balloons.  Very neat.

mja   Awesome job on the flower.  The water droplets are great.

Re: The 365 Day Sketch Challenge - Imagine Fx Collaborative Sketchbook 2010

    Day 375/375

Great viper Oaktree instantly recognizable!  I watched that show so often.

Really great job on the portrait Nightsong, the warm tones are really nice and the hair has a fullness to it.

Thanks for the kind words on the flower from yesterday,  As for the waterdrops, I tried a few methods I had used in the past (which weren't many) and none of them looked right on the flower, I ended up applying the technique described here (although i may have skipped one step):

    http://www.squidoo.com/paintingtipsdewdrops

I used 3 layers:  1) Bottom layer for base color (white), 2) Middle for shadow layer (Based on color of where the drop is), 3)  Top for highlight (basically brighter version of white #1).  When applying the base color I had the brush set at about 20% opacity, same for #2, for #3 I set the blending mode to "highlight" and just dabbed a few drops until it was bright enough.

These seemed pretty reasonable looking, however the photo I was studying had much bigger areas covered in water that I couldn't get replicated yet using that method. These were multi-highlighted/multi-shadowed spots of water, I tried but they just ended up looking like gigantic raindrops instead of "wet" areas.

    =======

Oil brush sketch and watercolor. I was trying to take some of the profile doodles/sketches I had been doing and take them a "little" bit further.

Thanks Mjasnowski for explaining your methods for water drops.

    BrunoG. - amazing
cinadisilver and cano - thanks. My first robot I really like
oaktree - very convincing cartoon viper, good perspective
mjasnowski - you have interesting style of sketching. Some of your faces are very 'aztec' for me but I like it

17/17 Hunt - next exposure of robots' personal life and experiment with particular brush
