I would enter, and infact I have an idea for it that I really like for it anyway anyway, except for the fact I'm an atheist and I can't really do the 'how does God influence my art' question you need to submit with it....   Oh well, I like the idea enough that I might try and do it anyway.

That's funny. Most atheists I've met are obsessed with God and disproving Him. I never understood this. I don't really believe in Big Foot, but it does not consume my day.

I know you think you understood what I said, but what you heard was not what I meant.

Re: Call for Artists: "Angels Among Us!" online art show

It's a fun debate topic, but not much more.  I don't need to prove he doesn't exist because I just accept the improbability of the existence of a being like that, perhaps these other atheists are kind of threatened by the possibility he might exist?  Besidesas long as people are just using religion as emotional support there is nothing wrong with it.  To use your analogy, if people are happier because they believe bigfoot to exist who am I to stop them?

Of course if they try to force others into their beliefs or using it as a justification for things which I don't consider ethical then all bets are off...

Anyway, best start digging out some reference images...

It's impossible to prove something doesn't exist - you can't have any physical evidence of non-existence. It's up to those who believe to prove that something does exist.

I'm agnostic myself hmm, with leanings to Jedi. A good competition for Christian artists among us.

Re: Call for Artists: "Angels Among Us!" online art show

I have given up trying to prove the existance of God, I have enough of a job proving my own existence, let alone knowing how to spell it (is it an e or an a at the end?!)

I just know that God is there.  I got more personal experience of his existance for me than of none-existance.

But i think really what this competition is about is having fun.  Though I do like theological debate, and have started them in the past on different forums, please do be careful folks not to make any comments that could cause offence.  If you want to keep chatting on this line, (which I must say everyone has done a really nice job of not being offensive so far) then make sure you express your own opinion rather than picking on the opinion of others.  Also, don't try to think that you know something about someone's religion and then use that as a way to prove your own point - chances are you will be way off beam and could cause offense.  That said, if anyone does have any queries about someone's belief (or lack of it) a carefully worded enquiry is always appreciated.

So what does a jedi believe then bob?

That we should listen to the force and beware the dark side, that good and evil are axioms of the force, that tablet pens should not be wielded as if they were lightsabers for they will only break.
