    Re: Comics

lol. you mean the one issue you get to read every 6 months to see what's going on?

I've actually really been surprised by the new Batman books ever since the RIP event. Detective Comics, Batgirl, Batman & Robin and the new Gotham series are great.

Well to give it it's full title "All Star The Goddamn Batman and Robin the Retarded Little Snot", at least that's what I think it's called after reading the "story" inside. I am now genuinely convinced that there are in fact 2 Frank Millers and one of them is crap.

lol. yah, it was supposed to be an alternate world kind of thing. I liked it at first but I was tiring of it quickly. then the space between issues got long and then it just disappeared.

So the real Frank Miller found out about somebody writing comics using his name and had it stopped? I read the first tpb which ends with the insane Batman taking Robin (who he's driven completely mad), to see the grave of his parents. The sanest character in the thing was The Joker. Tongue Tied

    Re: Comics

I think that was the part I really liked. they made the joker completely psycho.

    Re: Comics

Well, thankfully I followed that book up with Teen Titans: Year One which was brilliant... although batman was still a bit of a git in that too.

can't say I read that series, though I did like the artwork in it. took a leaf through every time I saw it in the shop. just didn't have the extra cash to spend on it.

Right now I'm reading Batman Year One. Since I managed to get a Batman run of 400-500+ I figured I'd start reading the whole run. Second time reading through Year One though and it's still a great read. written by Frank Miller. One of his better works I think.

I started reading Blacksad this weekend and it's one of the most impressive comics I've ever read. Unfortunately I'm out of money now to buy the last book *sigh*. I can highly recommend it.

I love Blacksad, too! The drawing of the environment are my favorite parts.

Well it's short on plot (in fact there isn't any), the few villains there are are dealt with far too quickly and easily, and it doesn't really go anywhere. But despite all that I enjoyed it. And the artwork was very good.

Batman year one is great too. I think Mazzucchelli's Batman is probably top or close to top of my list of favourite depictions of him.

    Re: Comics

got me a good deal at the comic shop today. went to the cheap bins and found me a run of Shade the Changing Man from #1 - 21. 50 cents each. never read any of them but I've heard a lot of good things.
